Weekly Update
Lexington Elementary School
Looking for an opportunity to serve Lexington Elementary?
We have opportunities for those wanting to serve LES through parent leadership roles. We are currently seeking officers for our PTA as well as PTA committee chairs. In addition we are also seeking parents that would be willing to serve on LES's School Improvement Council (SIC), this is an advisory council to the Principal. The SIC will meet 4-times a school year at LES from 7:00-7:30 AM.
On Sept. 10 we will have two drop-ins at LES, 7 AM-7:30 AM and in the evening from 6-7 PM. This will be for you to gather more information about these organizations and sign-up for PTA and/or SIC elections. If you are interested in volunteering to serve on the PTA leadership and/or the SIC please plan to drop by during one of these times on Sept. 10.
School-wide elections for PTA officers and SIC members will be Sept. 26 during our Family Literacy Night.
For more information, please contact Jim Hamby at jhamby@lexington1.net.

Morning Drop-off Safety Procedures
MORNING CAR RIDERS’ TRAFFIC INFORMATION: From Azalea Drive: Enter the driveway in a single file line and use the right lane as the drop off lane only. Children must exit the vehicle from the passenger side anywhere along the sidewalk and enter the building through the main entrance. Children are allowed to let themselves out of their car and do not have to wait on safety patrol to open their car doors for them. Parents wishing to enter the building must park in a designated parking spaces or the graveled lot and check in with the front office using their driver's license. Parents are also asked not to talk/yell out to their children after they have dropped off as this can cause a child to want to run after their parent's car and cause an accident.
From School Drive: Beginning at 7:15 a.m. enter the Bus Driveway and pull up to the end of the covered walkway, which is the only student drop off area. Students are not allowed to cross the Bus Driveway. The staff parking lot is not a student drop-off area. Parents wishing to enter the building must do so from the main school entrance on Azalea Drive.
