Get ready: this year for the fall fundraiser we are having a Turkey Trot! Our goal is to raise $35,000, which will go toward tutoring, instructional materials and supplies, technology, and educational enrichment.

Our Turkey Trot week kicks off Monday, November 16th and runs through Friday, November 20th. All this week the students will be able to raise money to support their education. We will celebrate with a Turkey Trot run on Thursday, November 19th during their P.E. time. Remote students will get in on the fun too, we can’t wait to see pictures of your little turkeys running at home on our Facebook page!

**Making your donation TODAY at

**Creating a personalized sign for your student, or a general sign to encourage all of our greyhounds! Parents and visitors cannot attend the Turkey Trot this year, but we would love to fill our running loop with spirit signs. Spirit Sign drop-off will be Wednesday, November 18 in the front drive of the school from 8:30 a.m.-2:15 p.m. Please drop off the signs with a stake attached.

**Sharing our fall fundraiser website with friends and family

Learning Platforms for the Third Grading Period

As the third grading period approaches (January 6-March 11, 2021), we know that some families may be considering changing instructional platforms. If you would like to move your child from remote instruction to in-person instruction or vice versa, please complete the form below.

This form must be completed and submitted no later than Tuesday, December 1 at 3:00 p.m., even if you have contacted the Registrar or Counselor with your intention.

Students who would like to continue with their current learning platform will not need to do anything; current selections will continue if the form is not completed.

A student's homeroom assignment may change if teacher allocations to remote or in-person instruction need to be adjusted.

Springetti Funraiser Volunteer Kick-off!

Tuesday, November 17, immediately after the 10:00 a.m. PTO meeting, via Zoom (please see the "Upcoming Events" section for Zoom log-in).

Generation Texas Week: November 16-20

Generation Texas Week teaches students about being successful in school, learning about future schools, and continuing education like college and technical schools. Throughout this week, we will discuss the importance of education. We emphasize the opportunities that a good education allows, including colleges and careers. This week is devoted to teaching about the next steps after graduation and our students’ futures. Dressing up is optional, but please adhere to the school dress code if you choose to allow your child to participate. Below are the highlights that we will focus on throughout the week, and please help us celebrate our future with the following themes…

Monday, November 16: CAREER DAY (dress for the career that you would like to have when you grow up) Teachers will help students explore job opportunities. “When I grow up, I want to be…”

Tuesday, November 17: BACK TO YOUR FUTURE DAY (wear your favorite college shirt) Teachers will share information about colleges and answer questions about the college experience.

Wednesday, November 18: THE ROAD TO COLLEGE (wear a Mitchell or Collins Intermediate, McCullough or Knox Jr. High, or The Woodlands or College Park High School shirt) Teachers will talk about schools that students attend after Galatas.

Thursday, November 19: TAKE THE PATH TO SUCCESS—TURKEY TROT DAY IN P.E. (dress in athletic attire) Teachers will explore opportunities for students other than 4-year colleges.

Friday, November 20: CELEBRATE EDUCATION (wear your Galatas shirt to celebrate our school) Teachers will discuss how rewarding it is to do your best every day in school.

Join our PTO and Support the Greyhounds

Please support our school by joining our amazing PTO. The link below will take you to the Galatas PTO website. It is a great way to get connected with our Galatas community and other parents.

Students will have a chance to help us create the cover of this year’s Galatas yearbook!

The theme this year will be "Aviation"! The sky's the limit for design options!

• Entries should be original student artwork, and may be done with marker, pastels, paint, watercolors, etc…

• Maximum size should be 8.5”X11” and must be a portrait (vertical) layout.

• Artwork should feature a Greyhound!

• No need to include our school name or the year...those will be printed on the yearbook by the publisher.

• All submissions must be received by Wednesday, November 18.

Initial submissions will be collected electronically this year - we will select one winner from each grade to be featured on the inside, as well as an overall design winner for the cover. We will then make arrangements to collect the original artwork from the selected students.

Please email a photo of your students' artwork to, and include their name and section number in the email (images will be judged anonymously by grade level).

Lost and Found Items

Lost clothing and other personal items are seeking to be reunited with their owners! Please check the Galatas PTO Facebook page for pictures of unlabeled items that have been left in the Lost and Found.

If an item belongs to your child, please comment on the picture with your child's name and section number, and the item will be brought to the classroom.

Items not claimed by December 1, 2020 will be donated to Interfaith.

With Balfour’s ImageShare app, anyone in our school community can share photos of school events and friends right from their mobile device.

It’s so easy! Students or parents simply download the iOS or Android app, create an account and enter our yearbook’s information (Project #122105) , and you’re ready to go. Photos can be selected from an existing gallery or taken using the app itself. You can also visit to upload!

Images are delivered directly to our yearbook staff with contributor info, photo identifications and captions. It’s the perfect solution to get our entire school community involved!

Please e-mail Jessica Buono at with any questions.

Children In Santa's Dreams Gift Drive

The CISD Police Department is inviting us to join together to donate new, unwrapped gifts for boys and girls of all ages. These gifts will be given to families in need throughout our district.

A donation bin will be on the front porch beginning Monday, November 16, and the last day to donate will be Friday, December 4.

Reminder: No Deliveries of Forgotten Items at This Time

Due to the current campus and district safety protocols, we will not be making deliveries of items to students at this time.

As the weather gets cooler, please be sure to check the forecast before coming to school to determine whether your student might need a jacket or coat during the day. Also, be sure to label all coats, jackets, and sweatshirts so we can get them back to the student if they are lost.

-Eye glasses are the exception. If a student forgets their glasses, please label them with the child's name and section number. When arriving on campus with the glasses, please use the call button to the right of the front center doors, and someone will assist you.

-If a student forgets their lunch, they can purchase or charge a lunch from the cafeteria.

-If a student forgets their water bottle, each grade level has bottles of water for students. Please email the teacher, and they will get your child a bottle of water.

-For forgotten homework or other class work, please contact the teacher and make arrangements for the student to turn it in the next school day.

**Please label your student's personal water bottles! If a bottle is left somewhere in the school, and it has the student's name on it, it can easily be returned to the student.

CISD Transportation is hosting a Fall Virtual Job Fair to hire bus drivers. The starting minimum rate is $17.25/hour. If you are ready to get started or would like more info, please complete this questionnaire!

Important Car Rider Information

We are asking for your help with the following procedures that will keep our car line moving, and keep everyone safe:

  • Please do not arrive earlier than 3:00 p.m. to line up for the car rider line. Our dismissal begins promptly at 3:10 p.m., and runs smoothly with all cars processed through the car line by approximately 3:25. Arriving closer to our dismissal time will help with the flow of traffic on Cochran's Crossing Drive.
  • Do not make U-turns on Cochran's Crossing Drive or in the adjacent neighborhoods. It is not safe for pedestrians or other drivers.
  • Do not obstruct the sight line for drivers exiting their neighborhoods. The police have placed cones on both sides of the entrance to Hayden's Run and Wyndspire to protect the sight line. Use caution and check traffic in all directions when driving in this area.
  • Be courteous and patient
  • Day care and students requiring extra time to load cars will be processed first in the car-line. These individuals and companies have received specific directions from the school.
  • If your child needs assistance buckling their seat belt, please pull forward and to the side after loading before assisting your child.
  • Use of cell phones is prohibited in a school zone and subject to a $200 fine.

Your assistance with this request is greatly appreciated. We want to keep everyone happy, healthy, and safe!
