PMS Weekly Update
August 10, 2020
From The Principal's Desk
Each week I will be sending out an update containing important information regarding activities, learning opportunities, and events at Phillips Middle School. While we may be socially distanced, I still want us to stay connected! Please feel free to reach out at any time to let us know of kudo's, questions, or suggestions. I look forward to working with all of our Phillips Falcon Families as we walk together into this next school year, and for many years to come.

Thank you,

Virtual Schedule
Attendance will be taken in each live session, and students will need to complete work off line as well.
Individual student schedules will be available through PowerSchool on Friday, August 14th, and printed copies will be available at our device collection/distribution.
We will have a document on our website (www.chccs.org/pms) prior to the start of school on August 17, with links to each teacher's Google Meet and Google Classroom.
New Computer Pick Up
All students will receive a new flip/touch Chromebook with a stylus. We will also have new internet hotspots with unlimited data (1 hotspot per 2 CHCCS students) available for families who requested one during the recent hybrid/virtual family survey, who received one last Spring or this Summer, or who requests one during the distribution or by contacting your child’s school.
The dates and times for our collection and distribution events will be:
Friday, August 14 - 3:30 - 6:30 pm - 6th Grade Students, new to district students and students needing internet hotspots
Monday, August 17 - 3:30 - 6:30 pm - 7th and 8th grade students with last names beginning with A-L
Tuesday, August 18 - 3:30 - 6:30 pm - 7th and 8th grade students with last names beginning with M-Z
Wednesday, August 19 - 3:30 - 6:30 pm - Make-up date for remaining students
Using district health and safety protocols to protect all staff, students and families, when you arrive, please drive or walk up to the BUS circle on 606 N. Estes Drive and proceed through the following stations:
Station 1 - Check in
Station 2 - Turn in old devices and library books
Station 3 - Receive new devices and other materials
To limit wait time at each station, please complete the following two-step process before arriving at the collection and distribution even.
Step 1 - Review the 1:1 Student Chromebook Program Handbook (https://bit.ly/2DlOvAz) with your child. This handbook provides information and expectations regarding device care during the take-home program.
Step 2 - Review and digitally sign the online 1:1 Student Program Parent and Student form for each of your children. If needed, a paper form will be available for you to sign during the school-based events.

Please know that while there are no fees required to participate in the CHCS 1”1 Take Home Program, we do ask that family caregivers help students to take care of their devices and associated materials throughout the year.
We also plan to have staff on hand to pass out musical instruments and school supplies for those students that need them.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
