Reporting Absences
It is imperative the administration and office staff knows when any staff member is going to be out of the building. Please follow this protocol when reporting absences:
- Turn in a leave form for personal, annual, or planned extended sick leave (more than one day). Leave forms should be turned in to Alisha Jacobs and she will get them to the administration to approve and then will put the absence into Aesop. If you have a prearranged sub for the absence, put that sub name on the top of the leave form.
- Any other sick leave can be entered by the staff member into Aesop and does not need approval from the administration.
- If an absence is for a short amount of time (less than an hour) and you are hoping to flex time and get coverage from someone in the building, the administration MUST approve prior to the leave, and the office staff needs to also be aware.
**Just a reminder, per school board policy, personal or annual leave during the first or last 10 work days of the school year, or leave the day before or after a holiday, must be approved by HR. For approval, a written reason for the leave must accompany the leave form.
The key to reporting absences is communication. Thank you for your assistance with this!
Fire Drill Kudos
Thanks to everyone for a successful first fire drill of the year! We were very impressed with the students and how they followed directions during and after the drill. Just a reminder that in September we must have a fire drill each week. We will try to have the next one in the morning and will let you know when it is happening. After the second one, fire drills will be not always be announced.
Safety Tip - Opening Classroom Doors
Please help keep our school safe and train your students to only open the door for people they know. Most adults who come to the door have a key to get in and do not need assistance. It is welcoming to have a student greet visitors at the door; however, it could be a dangerous situation if a student opened the door to someone who wasn't supposed to be in the school.
Hallways - Ready, Responsible, and Respectful
Kudos to those who have emphasized the Colts' Code this week in the hallway. Please set the tone now in the beginning of the year that students should remain quiet while traveling in the hallway. Talking in the hallway is a hard habit to break later in the year. It is a team effort, especially when big groups are in the foyer. Thank you for your help with this!
Newspaper Sponsor Needed
We are still looking for a newspaper sponsor. If you are interested, please let Mrs. Breaux know. Without a sponsor, we will not have a school newspaper this year.
