Normangee MS Family Newsletter
February 2, 2023
From Mr. Wingfield
So the last few days have been very tough for many members of our community. As I write this, many of you, or your neighbors may still be without electricity. The effects of winter storms like this don't just provide hardships the day of, but also many days after. Last night the doors of the school were opened for anyone that may need a place to get warm or a bite to eat. I want to encourage anyone still in need to reach out to our office and we will support you in any way we can.
It was great to see so many of our students back on our campus today and we are completely blessed to have such wonderful teachers also leave their worries at home and make sure our students' needs are met when they walk in the classroom. This truly is a village and we continue to be here if you need us.
All the regular scheduled activities this week will remain the same. We will still have MS basketball tonight at home vs Somerville. This is the last game of the year and then we will be gearing up for MS track (Schedule below). HS basketball will stay on the same schedule for tomorrow night. All Tuesday's canceled HS games have been rescheduled for Saturday at home against Snook. These games are Varsity only and will begin with our Lady Panthers at 11:00 am with the boys will follow.
If there is any other information you would like to receive through the MS Newsletter, please feel free to email me at jwingfield@normangeeisd.org
As always, if I can help in any way please let me know.

New Computer Guidelines for MS
We understand that some students may need access to computers for specific assignments at night. If this is necessary for any student, they may check out from the MS office on a case by case basis. Students must checkout at end of school and return the next morning. They will still be responsible for all damages to, and all activity on the computer they check out.
Thanks for your help

The Capturing Kids Heart focus for February will be Kindness
What is Kindness?
Kindness is the ability and willingness to express care and compassion for others. Kindness is a choice to use our time, talent, and resources to better the lives of others and the world through genuine acts of love, compassion, generosity, and service.
Why focus on Kindness?
- Kindness boosts positive emotions. Acts of kindness create neural pathways that enhance feelings of well-being and the natural flow of feel-good endorphins and neurotransmitters.
- Kindness is self-replicating. When we perform an act of kindness, it is likely to encourage others to act in a similar way.
- Kindness reduces stress and anxiety. Kindness promotes positive relationships with other people. Anything that helps you to build bonds with other people helps decrease anxiety.
Kindness in Action:
- Celebrate small things. Start each day with Good Things as a class. Publicly and privately affirm kind and thoughtful actions and attitudes.
- Create opportunities for students to regularly affirm each other. Once a week, dedicate time for students to write notes of affirmation to classmates and school staff members.
- Model Kindness. Be mindful of body language, tone, and mindset. Kindness is learned by example!
From the Bus Barn
There should be no food or drinks on buses before or after school. Please remind your students that all food items must be put away for the entirety of their ride to and from school. We have seen an increase in the level of food products, wrappers, and spills on the bus. This falls on the bus driver to clean up. Please help us remind students of this policy as well as helping to be a good steward and cleaning up all items on the bus daily.
Thanks for your support
