Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

To our teachers and Title I paraprofessionals. You are much more than just a teacher…

You are a counselor and psychologist to a problem-filled child,

You are a police officer that controls a child gone wild.

You are a travel agent scheduling trips for the year,

You are a confidante that wipes a crying child’s tear.

You are a banker collecting money for many different things,

You are a librarian showing adventures that a storybook can bring.

You are a custodian that has to clean certain little messes,

You are a psychic that learns to know all that everybody only guesses.

You are a photographer keeping pictures of a child’s yearly growth,

When a mother and father are gone, you become both.

You are a doctor that detects when a child is feeling sick,

You are a politician that must know the law and recognize a trick.

You are a party planner for holidays to celebrate all,

You are a decorator of a room, filling every wall.

You are a news reporter updating on classroom and current events,

You are a detective solving small mysteries and ending all suspense.

You are a clown and comedian that makes the children laugh,

You are a dietician assuring students have lunch or from yours you give them half.

When students stray from values, you become a preacher,

It takes all of these roles to do the important work of a Belle River teacher!

(adapted from a poem by Stacy Bonino)

Staffing for Next Year

The placement process for the 2016-2017 school year began last Friday with teachers being notified of reassignments. Dawn Demick has been working tirelessly since the beginning of April to determine the sections and placements for next year. This is not an easy task, as you know, and there will be additional changes in the next week and possibly during the summer. In efforts to keep you informed, I will update as the changes are made known to me.

This is the current general education staffing plan for next year (subject to change):

Kindergarten: Three sections (Diane, Sara, and ?)

First Grade: Two sections (Alysia and Harriet)

First/Second Multiage: Julie Gunderson

Second Grade: Two sections (Deana and Kathy)

Third Grade: Three sections (Denise, Lori, and Michelle)

Fourth Grade: Three sections (Barb, Jeanne, and Kelly)

Fifth Grade: Three sections (Becky, Nancy, and ?)

At this time, Pam is placed in second grade at Gearing per a transfer request that she made fearing our second grade sections would be reduced.

There is the possibility that we will need to add a third section of both first and second rather than adding the split class, and I will keep you posted.

Our Mission: Working Collaboratively to Ensure All Students Learn
