Title I Community Compact
The parent portion of the compact states:
As a parent, I am aware of my responsibility and commitment to our school and our children. I pledge my commitment to showing my child that I value education by:
- Taking personal responsibility for the success of my child’s education
- Explaining the importance of education to his or her future and the future of all children.
- Spending a minimum of fifteen minutes each school night discussing my child’s schoolwork or working together in an enrichment activity.
- Communicating with my child’s school/teacher.
- Volunteering and attending school events, as able.

From SBISD - Exciting Opportunity!
The Spring Branch Board of Trustees has launched LeadSBISD, a new program to encourage, engage and develop leaders across our school district community. This year-long program is a great opportunity to learn about SBISD operations and initiatives.
LeadSBISD Cohort 1 will be comprised of up to four representatives from each of our seven middle school feeder patterns, selected by lottery. There is no cost to participate and translation/interpretation will be available.

Members of West Houston Neighborhoods are hosting a Hurricane Harvey Anniversary Community Meeting on October 8th from 6:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the SBISD Technology Center, 14330 Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77079. There will be several speakers, listed below, to provide updates on flood control measures and disaster recovery efforts.

Box Tops for Education
Fall Box Tops are due by November 1st. Please submit any clipped box tops you have by the end of October so they can be turned in by the deadline. Your child can turn these in to their teacher. Also, don't forget to download the Box Tops App if you have not done so yet and start scanning your receipt after each shopping trip.
CARNIVAL!!!
The Meadow Wood Community Carnival is coming up soon and we want everyone to come and enjoy this fun MWE tradition and community event with your families. The theme is “Rock the Big Top.” We will have the usual favorites (e.g., dunk booth, Face Paint by Stormy, confetti eggs, silly string, etc.), some hopefully new favorites (e.g., karaoke, photo booth, MWE Pet Shop, new inflatables, etc.), delicious food, and lots of fun for all ages! The Carnival will be held on October 25th from 4pm - 7:30pm.
WE WILL NEED VOLUNTEERS FROM EACH GRADE TO RUN THE BOOTHS!

Project Study
It’s time for the PTA Project Study Program! This program allows any PTA member to apply for funds to enhance the school and/or support student needs. We need parent and teacher committee members to help with the application process. The volunteer time is minimal, anticipating 2 after school meetings (11/6 & 12/4), and some additional time to be arranged according to your individual schedule.
If you are interested in serving on the program committee, please send an email to Holly Saunders at hublerh@hotmail.com. Names will be drawn lottery style, so get your name in the hat now!
If you are interested in submitting a proposal for the committee to review, applications are due November 1st. Requested items include, but are not limited to, teacher and instructional materials, classroom equipment, PTA-sponsored programs.
