Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a superhero? The Superhero Science Night event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 on October 24th. This event will give you the opportunity to explore the science behind superheroes. Each room will have hands on experiments, scientific demonstrations, or engineering projects based on superhero science. The event will cost $5 in advance, or $10 at the door.
Sincerely,
Michael Singleton
The Technology Campus is incredibly thankful for all of our faithful readers, and for that we would like to reward our families. Moving forward we will have a NEWSLETTER QUIZ located under the Principal's corner.
Dress down passes will be rewarded to the students who receive a 100% on the quiz for that week!
We hope that you have fun, and enjoy reading this week's edition! Entries are due the morning of Monday, October 21st.

Fall Festival Adult Volunteers Needed!
- We need YOUR help! The OSS PVO is asking the OSS parents to sign up to volunteer and help at the Fall Festival on Friday, November 1st and Saturday AND/OR November 2nd. On Friday we need help during the day with receiving bake sale items at morning drop off, festival prep and starting at 6:00 pm with building one set up. On Saturday there will be donuts and coffee at 7am and you will receive a volunteer lunch voucher when you check in for your shift. Saturday has two shifts available plus early morning set up. If you are working the 2nd shift, come early to eat before your shift starts, the volunteer lunch room will close at 2:00pm. There is a ½- hour overlap to make sure that the post is not left vacant if the second shift is running late. We would appreciate any additional help for early set up at 7:00 am.
- Elementary OSS Parents, we also need coverage for the inflatables and have 4 (1.5 hour) shifts for each grade level. Please consider helping supervising one of those shifts so we can keep the inflatables open all day. These shifts have been added to the Elementary School Adult Volunteer sign up page.
- Also please consider donating to our Bake Sale. We are accepting home baked or store bought desserts to compliment our lunch menu. OCPS rules are listed on the sign up page and non perishable donations can be dropped off the Friday morning before.
All the three sign ups can be found on the same Sign Up page. Click on the tab at the top of the page that corresponds with your campus and please sign up for multiple times. The PVO appreciates your support.
NASA’s Mars 2020 rover needs a name! Any K-12 student in U.S. public, private, and home schools has a chance to name the next Mars rover bound for the Red Planet in July 2020.
To enter the contest, students submit their rover name and a short essay (max 150 words) to explain the reasons why their chosen name is the best. The contest closes Nov. 1, 2019. More information at https://lnkd.in/eNKNbp6

First Grade
First grade is super excited to be able to take our learning on an adventure outside the classroom with our field trip to the Repertory Theater next Monday. It’s going to be a meaningful experience in which our students will have the opportunity to watch the magic of fiction come to life! If you were chosen as a chaperone please make sure you have completed the necessary additions clearance and you have paid on school pay.
Information has gone home about our pumpkin character project for October. Remember the character pumpkins are due back on the 28th. We are really excited for the students to share their creations in class.
The first grade theme basket for the Fall Festival is dog and cat care. We are graciously accepting donations for our basket. Some ideas are leashes, bowls, chew toys. Thanks for your help!!
