Georgia Gazette
STAMP ACT By: Aleydys Hernandez
Our bond might be Broken
Georgia has always been close and loyal to the motherland, especially in times of arousal. However, everything might soon change.
The French & Indian war has caused many troubles in the colonies. Britain is taxing us without any representation, in order to pay for the debts. As you may know, Georgia is the only colony to sell & produce stamps. This will really hurt our economy, since we have to place a stamp on all printed material.
Important Information
The Act was passed on March 22, 1765 and as of yesterday (November 1, 1765) the Act was finally implanted. This is when we decide if the mother country and the Blessed King George III are really in control.
Important Influencers
Governor James Wright
Wright is the current governor and he is not taking action against the Stamp Act and is refusing to agree with the colonists. Instead, he ran away from his problems.
The Liberty boys
A lot of Georgians were pushed when the stamp act was passed. The sons of Liberty often meet at Tondee's Tavern to discuss political issues.
King George III & Parliament
King George III -and The Parliament- passed the Stamp Act and Georgia ~ as well as other colonies~ were hurt because of them. It is taxation without representation!!
