Students in Kindergarten, first, and second grades enjoyed a visit from local published author, Lisa Peters, this week. Mrs. Peters explained to students the writing process she used including sketches and handwritten notes, the process with the illustrator, and how the book was published. She read aloud her first book and answered student questions about writing and publishing. Mrs. Peters is a positive role model of a writer! Please visit her website and blog at the address below. · You can donate a book in honor of your child’s birthday, a special milestone, or simply to contribute to our library’s growth.
· The publisher will add a beautiful bookplate with your personalized message and send the book directly to our library, ready for eager young readers to enjoy.

Indiana Center for the Prevention of Youth Assistance and Suicide (formerly Chaucie’s Place) will be visiting NBE again this school year during the week of November 27. Their body safety curriculum, Child Lures Prevention, Think First & Stay Safe, will be presented to students. The lesson will provide relevant, balanced and proven prevention strategies to help families and children increase awareness and knowledge of how to recognize, interrupt, stop and prevent these crimes. As a community, we must think of childhood sexual abuse as a preventable disease. Collaboration between educators, parents and guardians, the medical community, law enforcement and our communities-at-large can proactively protect our children before abuse ever happens.
Please see the letter below for more information on this body safety presentation, see the attach document below.
Snack Attack - Fishers Youth Assistance Program
NBE is pleased to announce the return of the Snack Attack program for those students in need. This program, supported by the Fishers Youth Assistance Program, is designed to provide students a little extra nourishment for the weekend until they can receive a hot meal at school on Monday.
Here's how the program works. Your student will pick up a small sack of food to be taken home over the weekend. The sack is filled with individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, pop tarts, peanut butter/crackers, Goldfish crackers, etc. The type of snacks will vary each week. Please let us know if your child has a peanut allergy as he/she will receive a special bag of peanut-free snacks.
There is no cost to you or the school. This program is open to students that qualify for the reduced lunch program or have an increased need currently.
To be part of this free program, you must sign up your family online. https://forms.gle/xrKNaxRaLypSqKvV8
