Sacagawea
Sacagawea name has been disagreed upon by Historians along with her date of birth and death.
The fact that Sacagawea was a woman with a child gave a sign of peace to Native American tribes.
Seaman
Seaman was said to be a black Newfoundland dog.
It is still unknown how Seaman died or if he even returned from the journey, however there are many theories on what could have happened.
Shoshone
Organized into four groups; Western Shoshone, Northern Shoshone, Wind River Shoshone, and Comanche.
The Comanche and Wind River used to be together but they split and went to western Texas.
Louisiana Purchase
Napoleon's brothers tried to stop him from selling the Louisiana territory.
If Thomas Jefferson had not taken his friend’s advice, the United States would have gone to war with France for the territory instead of purchasing it.
Grizzly Bears
There were many encounters with Grizzly bears after the famous first one but the men were smarter to avoid them.
While they camped at the Great Falls of the Missouri River the Corps were surrounded by Grizzly dens and decided to try and drive them away.
Missouri River
There was a fork in the river, which greatly concerned the explorers about which was actually the Missouri.
Sgt. Floyd
Floyd was born in Kentucky and lived there for most of his life.
Charles was one of the first to apply for the Journey.

Great Falls
All of the men disagreed with their captains about which path to take on the fork in the river to get to the Great Falls, but the South Path was the correct one.
The Hidatsa tribe said this was a sign that they were on the correct side of the river this was a great relief to the Corps.

Nez Perce
Considered the nicest tribe the Corps had met on the whole journey
Lewis gave the chief of the tribe a list of all the crew members names so people would know that they made it to the Pacific Ocean
Thomas Jefferson
The Expedition idea was proposed before Napoleon even offered to sell it to America.
He originally thought expedition would only need $2,500 in funds but ultimately it ended up costing $50,000.
