We are hopeful that people will be doing holiday shopping, for both children and adults, and will take advantage of their wonderful books, educational toys and games, music and DVDs. A percentage of sales will go to LES for more books for the library!
Stop by our table to purchase raffle tickets for a new tablet! The drawing for the tablet will be held at the end of the evening. You do not need to be present to win.

PTA News- Holiday Gifts on Tuesday, December 10
New this year, each child that attends LES will be able to choose 2 FREE gifts for a friend/family. There will not be any gifts available to purchase.
Your LES child may come to the gym before the Winter concert from 5-6 pm, or after the concert from 7-7:30 pm to select their 2 free gifts. A gift wrapping station will be available while supplies last.
Attendance Challenge
As I shared in my last newsletter, each month we will engage in a Feeder Attendance Challenge. We are working hard as a school community to promote daily attendance. THURMONT PRIMARY won this month's attendance challenge! Remember that in order for your child to meet MSDE expectations of 96%, s/he can only miss seven days of school for the whole year.
I am posing a December attendance challenge for TeamLES from 12/5-12/18!!
If LES (both staff and students) have exemplary attendance (96%) for 7 out of the 10 days, there will be a schoolwide holiday PJ day for ALL on December 20th.
Counselor News from Mrs. Bokinsky
Students in grades Pre-K through 3rd grade will be taught a Personal Body Safety Unit this year. If you would like to preview the unit, please take a look below:
Parent Preview Presentations will be held so that you can hear a presentation, review all materials of instruction (including the scripted lessons and view the video), as well as ask any questions that you may have. All sessions will be held in the FCPS Staff Development Center, located at 44 West Frederick Street in Walkersville. You can choose to attend on:
January 9, 2019
9:30 – 11:00 a.m.
12:00 – 1:30 p.m.
2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
If you are not able to attend a Parent Preview session, you may also view the materials on your own at your child’s school. Contact the school counselor Stacy Bokinsky at 240-236-3755 to schedule the appointment.
Throughout the year, you may also make an appointment at the county office to preview these materials by calling the FCPS Office of P-12 Health and Physical Education at (301) 644-5137; or by emailing Suzanne White, Administrative Assistant at suzanne.white@fcps.org, located at the FCPS Central Office Building on 191 South East Street in Frederick.
