🍁🍂 Weather and Coat Help 🍂🍁
Wyoming weather... I know the weather can be quite unpredictable this time of year. In order to make sure students can enjoy recess outside, please help us by sending a warm coat every day. If your student has a hat and gloves, please send them as well. We try to go outside if it is above 0°. We do stay inside if the playground is too wet or the temperature is below 0°.

Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month. We honor all of the cultures at Ashgrove and want to celebrate this month. As part of this month, we will be participating in Native American Heritage Week. Our Cultural Resource Specialists have put together a great week for us and have asked us to share the following message with students:
Native American Heritage Week is a time to celebrate and honor Native American Heritage, Community, and People. Whether Native American or not, we encourage all students to participate in the spirit days for culture week with respect. If a student is wearing regalia, do not touch their clothing and only take a picture with permission. Ribbon shirts, beadwork, moccasins, and ribbon skirts can be worn by any individual. Native and non-native alike. This is a great way to support native people and businesses. Unlike regalia, these articles of clothing are a way to dress up nice, but with a Native flair. There shouldn't be any warbonnets (headdresses), war paint, or inappropriate jokes on clothing worn. Also, mocking indigenous songs, dancing, sounds, or language is not appropriate. If you have questions, ask a teacher and we can address it. In this, if any student is interested in what is being said during the Arapaho Pledge, we can also get them a copy of the words. Events, dress up days, multicultural club, and participation is open to all. If you are unsure if something is appropriate or not, please just ask.

I have created a short google form that has just a couple of quick questions you can answer. While the school may not be able to implement every suggestion, I want to hear what you think and will take this information to our leadership teams.
