Principal's Message

Hello families,

We hope you are able to enjoy some fun activities with your students during spring break and build new memories. We appreciate all you do to support your students every day so they come to school ready to learn.

We know that the majority of our students begin exploring careers in elementary, and some of them know who they want to be when they grow up by the time they leave elementary. We begin exploring different careers in Kindergarten and connect the skills they are learning in school with future careers. We are planning a College & Career Fair in May and would love to have parents representing their careers as well. Please read the information below regarding College & Career Fair and let our office know if you are available and interested in having a table to talk to our students about your career or business.

Thank you for trusting us to support your students as they build their future.

With appreciation,

Carmen Brodniak

Message from Dean of Students

Hello all! For April, we will be focused on the Social Emotional Competency of Social Awareness which is the ability to understand the perspectives of and empathize with others, including those from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and context. Our character trait will be Perseverance and staff will be on the lookout for Student of the Month nominees that consistently demonstrate Perseverance here at school.

We now have over 200 students who worked extremely hard to earn 50 Paws-itives and completed an application to become a Lynx Leader. We would love to add more students to the team - students can talk to classroom teachers if they would like to become a Lynx Leader at our school. The photos below are from the Lynx Leaders' experience in March - working on an art project.

Thank you to all families for your support and encouragement from home, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at all!

With appreciation,

Haley Steinbach

Kindergarten Celebrates 100’s Day!

Kindergarteners recently celebrated their 100th day of learning at school! Students and teachers dressed up as centenarians (someone who is 100 years old or more) and did a lot of fun 100 themed activities. They had a 100 day snack where each student made their own special treat by counting ten pieces of ten different snacks. They also made the famous 100 day cereal necklace and worked out in class doing 10 different activities ten times. It was a fun-filled day to celebrate all the hard work and learning students have done!

College & Career Fair 2023

Do you have a career or business you would like to showcase to students? You are invited!

What: Lincoln Street Elementary College and Career Fair

When: Thursday May 12th from 8-1pm

Why: Studies report that understanding the link between education and career aspirations may be the single largest impact on an individual student’s likelihood of completing college. Students who understand the relevance of a college education on their career interests are more likely to be academically prepared for college and career. In fact, high school graduates who expect they will need a college degree for the career they are interested in are more than six times as likely to earn their bachelor’s degrees.

Who: If you are interested in coming to the College & Career Fair to share about your career or business, please contact either:

CLASSROOM NEWS

Mrs. Gallardo and Mr. Heikkila 1st grade Class

This month our first grade classes had the opportunity to work on a fun assignment using geometric shapes to count and compare. Students started with a picture of a large triangle made out of various shapes and then built the triangle with their table groups. Students counted and compared the shapes in their triangle including any hidden shapes. Students were able to count and compare many different shapes including the 14 different triangles! During number corner students have been learning about measuring and time. Students were measuring themselves and their classmates to compare their measurements.

Mrs. Clark 1st grade class

This month our class is working on identifying shapes. Our first graders are working on identifying the different attributes and names of 2D shapes. Our first graders are comparing the attributes of 2D and 3D shapes and experimenting on making 3D shapes.
