Dear CES FAMILIES and FRIENDS,
CES hopes you had a great weekend. MLK JR is always a good time to reflect on the past, present and current times of our country. Dr. King was a pivotal leader for our country in the 60's. His words still ring true today. Take some time and read about him and let his words or famous quotes resonate with you and your family in these times we are currently living.
Help your child show kindness to others and learn how to love more and hate less.
You are your child's first teacher. They are hearing and repeating your language, your words and conversations.
Canton Elementary is getting pumped up for our annual Jump Rope for Heart and Kid's Heart Challenge on February 12, 2021. As we get closer to the event, we will send you a schedule of our day. More information to come regarding our day.
If you have any questions regarding JR4H/Kid's Heart Challenge KHC, please don't hesitate to contact aherchman@cantonisd.com.
One of our former students, Westin Burton was elected to be the HEART SURVIVOR HEART HERO for the American Heart Association and Canton Elementary School. Currently, he is at CIS this year, but we are honoring him at CES. Check out his story below!
Thanks to Mrs. Herchman, Mr. and Mrs. Burton and the AHA for choosing Westin to be honored. We are proud to highlight Westin and his story!
January 25th is COLLEGE DAY at CES. Wear your favorite college colors and show your LIFELONG LEARNING spirit. If your child choses to go to college or not, our hope is that they continue to learn for their entire lives. You are never too old or young to learn something new each day. Don't forget, model learning in your home daily!
I would like to give a shout out to Mrs. Gomez, a first grade teacher at CES. She had her students create "Counting Money" videos at home. Counting money is a hard concept for students to grasp in first grade. With the family support at home and the classroom practice, these students are demonstrating success. the videos have been priceless! That is just one example of how our wonderful CES parents, students and CES Staff are working together to promote learning!
Keep soaring CES COMMUNITY! Your effort makes a difference!
January is moving fast and we are heading into the spring months soon. Thanks as always for your ongoing support, especially during this unprecedented year!
May you find something positive each day this week to celebrate!
Many Blessings,
Kelly Lamar
