The Weekly Update #21

January 13th 2023: Weekly Update 21
Mrs. Danzy's News and Notes
Inspiration
Greetings INOVA families!
Are you familiar with the saying "mind over matter"? It implies that the mind is a powerful thing and with the right state of mind, you can do almost anything. As we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I want to remind you that your thoughts hold power. They hold the power to boost you forward or hold you back. Be aware of the thoughts you hold about what you are capable of accomplishing. Your success will begin and end with your thoughts. Growth and achievement are all in your mind...be aware of negative thinking and shut it down before it shuts you down! Every action starts with an initial thought. What actions will your thoughts produce?
Peace and Blessings,
Headmaster Danzy

Our next Progress Check before the Benchmark is Monday, January 9th. Be sure to take this quick assessment during the designated window of time.
Our second ACT benchmark is scheduled for January 24th. This important assessment helps students, teachers, and families understand how students are performing in relation to important college and career readiness benchmarks. All students have set goals based on their performance on Benchmark 1. Technology Tips
Students experiencing any issues with their computer or accessing programs can do the following: Restart your computer - Restarting your computer should be something students do weekly to check for computer updates. Clear Cookies and Cache - When you use a browser, like Chrome, it saves some information from websites in its cache and cookies. Clearing them fixes certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites. Check Edmentum Status Page - If Edmentum is not responding or your having issues logging into Edmentum, checking the status page will let you know if they are experiencing any issues: Edmentum Status Call Technology - 520-374-7170 Hours of Operation: 7 am - 4 pm.
Edmentum Students who are currently scheduled to take an Edmentum class should have received an enrollment email from Edmentum. The email provides the student with details of the course, the Edmentum teacher assigned as well as login information. Students are expected to login to their Edmentum course during the period it is assigned on their schedule daily. Any student that has not received their course, please reach out to Mrs. Teran - ateran@cguhsd.org *Parents, you should also be receiving emails from your child's Edmentum teacher regarding opportunities for students to attend live lessons (if applicable) as well as progress reports. Please check your email and spam folder.

Tip of the week- Master your ABILITIES
- 4 Skills Based off your ABILITY to master them, that WILL PAY YOU FOREVER.
1.Master your ABILITY to Read, Comprehend and Advocate by asking questions and by doing your own research when you find yourself curious or even uninspired the best thing you can do is self-educate yourself. For example, if you have any interest in becoming a Lawyer but lack exposure to what that looks like but maybe your ABILITY to perform under pressure in heated debates in classroom discussions or whenever you have the ability to state your case fascinates you. Look no further than some of the resources that you use today such as YouTube, Google but don't stop there.
2.Adjust your ABILITY to be Intentional about the intended signals that you send off when communicating. Productive communication is less about trying to change someone's mind, and more about understanding their perspective.
3.Practice your ABILITY to THINK Before You SPEAK and Determine if your Response is Worthy. Sometimes we exert energy that didn't have to be spent, learn how to Stand Tall by your beliefs and find ways where you can Promote your ideas for solutions that make the world a better place for you + others.
4. Commit to demonstrating your ABILITY to Walk away from the things that DO NOT bring you success or happiness.
Fun Fact of the week:
There is a 50% chance that in a group of 23 people, two will share the same birthday. In a group of 367 people, it is a 100% chance. But only 70 people are required for a 99.9% chance.
