Survey Results
MCPCA Members, the majority of you want to learn more about Social Media and On-line Bullying, in February, on a Friday, in the morning or afternoon. Most of you were surprised to learn that MCPCA has given out close to $80,000 over the course of 20 years in scholarship awards! Your suggestions for future PD activities and how MCPCA can best serve you are being carefully considered. Again, thanks for your participation and we look forward to seeing you at this year's professional development event - Social Media and On-line Bullying.
High School Caring Breakfast
Each year Mercer County Professional Counselors Association recognizes one student from each high school in the county who has demonstrated deeds of kindness, respect and service. Students, their parents and their counselor will be invited to the annual "Caring Breakfast" which will be held this year on February 24, 2016 at Mercer County Community College. High School counselors should be members of MCPCA and can submit a nomination from each school after discussion among colleagues in their buildings. During these difficult times for students and especially their parents and guardians, it is always nice to take time to recognize the successes of young adolescents.
We NEED you!
What if we told you that you could attend two professional development workshops, honor a student who goes above and beyond, nominate colleagues for the great work they do, attend a college fair of over 100 college and universities, nominate students for various scholarships and it only cost you $20??? Yes, $20. The time to join is NOW! The membership fee is $20 until January 31st. Take advantage of this low price now. Membership fees go up to $30 February 1st.
Upcoming Professional Development
Have any of you ever had students come to your office, talk about the newest social media craze, and feel completely clueless? How many of you understand snapchat, twitter, and other social media sites? With so many districts implementing 1:1 initiatives, we are finding social media, cyberbullying, and internet safety as an ever growing trend coming into schools and life. MCPCA will be providing professional development on just those topics. More information to follow, but be on the lookout!
