Mahalo Nui Loa!

KSK Class of 2019

A Message from Lynn and Dale Akeo

On behalf of the 2016 Aloha Festivals Royal Court, MAHALO to the Class of 2019 for your generous donations to Lunalilo Home. The Aloha Festivals coordinators and the Lunalilo Home staff were overwhelmed by your donations, and the gifts of song and dance presented by those in attendance. Mahalo for taking the time to give back to our kūpuna.

Aloha,

The Akeo ʻOhana

To Our Wonderful ʻOhana...

We, too, wanted to thank everyone who contributed with an outpouring of support of the donation drive and visit. This would not have been possible without you all!

  • Our 2019 families who so generously donated countless toiletries, art supplies, dry food items, and nail/"glamour" supplies by sending in to school with your child and bringing to Lunalilo Home!
  • All of the homeroom teachers who promoted the donation drive with their haumāna and coordinated collection of the items. Some teachers even worked in the donation drive with extra credit and/or had their haumāna create beautiful, handmade inspirational cards and cards written in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi for the kūpuna!
  • Our awesome Vice Principal, Mrs. Braffith, who communicated and coordinated the donation drive efforts with the homeroom teachers. The tremendous organization and promotion of the drive was so appreciated!
  • All of our 2019 families who came to Lunalilo Home on October 6th to visit and share with our kūpuna - your presence and sharing was a treasure! A special mahalo to the Akeo 'ohana, Kevin Lau (Keely), Tuasivi ʻohana (Kamalu), Halle Garcia, Keely Lau, Kaiya Manatad, and all of the 2019 keiki and 'ohana who shared their music and hula! Some especially memorable moments were when the kūpuna sang the Imua fight song in unison, along with the haumāna and Kevin's ʻukulele playing, and when the kūpuna then stood with such respect when Sons of Hawaiʻi was sang - also in unison. They also had fun getting up and dancing hula, along with the Tuasivi ʻohana and Aloha Festivals members.

There were so many special thoughts, actions, moments, and memories with this effort. We wanted to share some of them with you all below...

With deep gratitude...
