Lunch Box
When your child brings his or her lunch, please make sure that they are bringing nutritious food to eat. Candy and chips will not keep them from getting hungry. Please make sure they have at least 1-2 oz. of protein, whole grain bread, lots of fruits and veggies, and some kind of dairy. Some suggestions include: peanut butter sandwiches, popcorn, bread, crackers, bagels, fresh fruit in the peel, unopened single serve containers of fruit, fruit juice, pudding, nuts, cookies, or cereal bars. We offer milk every day they can buy if they bring their lunch. All you need to do is have money in their lunch accounts. Milk is 30 cents.
Some kids will see the school lunch and want to eat it instead of their lunch, or they will want a school lunch after eating their lunch they brought from home. It is a good idea to keep some money in their lunch accounts.
Make sure their lunch boxes are temperature safe. Make sure to use ice packs to keep items cold. Please, no red drinks.
