Marine Engineering
Job Description
Marine engineers design and build ships, aircraft carriers, submarines, sailboats, and tankers. They're responsible for the internal systems of a ship (propulsion, electrical, refrigeration, and steering) and marine architects are responsible for the ship design (the form, structure, and stability of hulls.)
Education/ Training Required
To become a marine engineer you need a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, marine systems engineering, or marine engineering technology. It would also be in your best interest to have some related work experience, but it is not mandatory.
Chemistry?
Marine engineers would have to use density to make sure the ship would float....that's important. Throughout the designing and building of the carriers they would have to constantly check the mass and volume. They would also have to use significant figures when calculating measurements
