Weston Appelfeller, CSFM

Columbus Crew SC - Director of Grounds

About Me

At 31 , I have two kids (4 years old and 10 months old) and have been married for 10 years. After graduating from The Ohio State University, I accepted an assistant groundsman position with the Columbus Crew. At the age of 23, I was offered the Director of Ground position, which I held for a year. In 2008, I left the Crew to pursue an opening with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Fenway Park is one of the most prestigious stadiums in the United States and the position couldn't be passed up. After three years, I missed soccer and took a position with the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer. At the end of the year I was offered my original job with the Columbus Crew and returned to them. For the past 3 years I have managed 3 natural turf playing surfaces and 12 acres of landscaping.
