Just a few items to note:

Parent-Teacher Conference:

It is time for our fall parent-teacher conference. Our beginning assessments will be completed soon and I am looking forward to meeting you again and discussing your child's goals for third grade. Wylie ISD has scheduled Monday, October 26th as our evening for conferences. We also have a few slots available during our planning time and after school during the weeks before. If you haven't signed up for a slot please do soon. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Trunk or Treat:

Tibbals Annual Trunk or Treat will be on Friday, October 30th from 6-8pm! Come join us! PTA is also collecting bags of candy in the office to fill the trunks with!

PTA is looking for parents to sign up their trunks for Trunk or Treat! If you are interested, please sign up using the following link:

Field Trip:

Friday your child brought home information regarding our 3rd grade field trip! We are so excited!

We will be starting the morning off at Breckinridge park in Richardson to enjoy the outdoors and lunch, then departing the park around 11:30 to travel to The Plaza Theater in Garland to see the play Annie.

The information brought home, there were 3 pieces of paper. One is describing our field trip and all prices, the second is the permission slip that needs to be filled out for each student getting on the bus, and the third is letting us know what size t-shirt you will be purchasing. These t-shirts will be the 3rd grade shirts that we will wear throughout the year.

All of these forms and money need to be turned in by Friday, October 16th.

We cannot except anything after this day, so that we can get money turned in as well as checks cut for the Theater. If you have any questions, please email me and let me know. We are super excited about this trip!

In Math, we will work with adding and subtracting numbers. Students will be subtract numbers with regrouping and learn to combine place value to subtract. We will also reinforce problem solving skills by using the thinking patterns SSM-Some and Some More, BSD-Bigger Smaller Difference, and SWA-Some Went Away. We will use Part/Part/Whole to help organize necessary information for problem solving. We will continue to estimate when problem solving and use number lines to subtract. Students will have a Math Assessment on Friday, October 23rd, so please look over the review with your child when it comes home.

After we complete our unit on addition and subtraction we will move on to multiplication.

In Science, we will be studying the water cycle. We will explore evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. We will review observable and measurable properties of matter and the states of matter. Students will have a science assessment on Tuesday, October 20th, so please be sure to look over the review with them when it comes home.

After we complete our unit over matter, we will start studying day-to-day weather changes. This unit only last for 5 days, so their next science test will be Wednesday, October 28th.

Science Fair Projects:

I have checked over most of the submitted ideas. If your child did not receive their problem paper back already they will get it Monday. It is very important to remember that the projects need to be something that can be tested. The hypothesis is due on Wednesday, October 14th. Please make sure that your child has this part completed and turned in.
