Parent Survey

In preparation for the upcoming Self-Reflection that our school will be completing as part of the NEASC Accreditation process, all students, families, and faculty members will complete surveys designed to provide our school with important feedback on our work. We hope to learn more about what is working well for our students and identify areas for growth and improvement. Every student had an opportunity to complete the survey last Thursday. We ask that every family complete one survey. You do not need to complete multiple surveys if you have more than one student in the school. The survey is mobile-ready and can be completed on a computer, tablet, or phone.

A link to a survey was shared with you via email today. It is intended for parents and guardians only.

Travel information Night for 2020-2021

A number of new trips are set to be unveiled at our annual Travel Information Night! We have domestic trips, international trips, exchange opportunities and service opportunities. Most of these trips are available to students currently in grades 8-11. Representatives from EF Tours and GAPP (German American Partnership Program) will be on hand to answer questions regarding some of the international travel and exchange opportunities. We hope to see you there. We will answer any questions that you have and, if you want to secure your place on one of these adventures, you can even sign up that evening.

Travel information night will take place on Tuesday, October 15th beginning at 6:00pm in the Black Box Theater.

Postural Screening for Freshmen

From our Medical Office

Dear Parents/Guardians of Freshman Students,

Groton Dunstable Regional High School will conduct state-mandated postural screenings during Physical Education classes throughout the school year for Freshman students. If your child is not enrolled in a PE class this school year then your child will be screened in the Spring.

The Postural Screening Program is intended as a supplement to your child’s primary health care. The purpose of postural screening is to detect signs of spinal curvature at the earliest stages to prevent its progression. Postural screenings are performed annually in grades 5 through 9, the time of the most rapid growth and when signs of spinal curvatures typically appear.

The school nurses will conduct these screenings. Boys and girls will be screened separately and privacy will be maintained at all times. The screening is a simple 30 second observation of the back with the shirt/top removed. If your child has any unusual findings, you will receive a letter recommending further evaluation by your child’s physician.

If you DO NOT want your child to participate in the postural screening, or if your child is being monitored by your healthcare provider please make the request to cshea@gdrsd.org by September 30, 2019.

Please call the school nurses, Cheryl Shea or Leah Caruso at 978-448-6362 ext. 1018 if you have any questions.

An experienced MEFA representative will provide an overview of the college financing process, including types of financial aid, how to apply, and financing options for your family. Before the seminar, be sure to visit MEFA’s website — mefa.org — to download a copy of the seminar presentation in English or Spanish and explore other tools and resources to assist you in the college planning process.

Please note that the presenting company, College Funding Services, is not affiliated with the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District. However, their services have received many positive reviews in local communities such as Chelmsford. Please contact Mark Hennelly (mhennelly@gdrsd.org) with any additional questions.
