We are beginning preparations for our annual First Grade Talent Show! This year’s talent show will be on Friday, June 5th at 8:45 am.
If your child has a talent (singing, dancing, comedy, karate, jump roping, playing an instrument, hula hooping, reciting a poem, etc.) please ask them if they’d like to perform in the show.
HELP NEEDED:
We are in need of a microphone/karaoke machine. Please email Mrs. Bardes or Mrs. Carter if you have one.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:
· Keep each act 1-2 minutes in length so all students wishing to participate can.
· Your child will need to provide any equipment or music needed for their act (We will have a keyboard and CD player available.
· We will have 2 rehearsals at school; however, the complete act should be organized and practiced at home PRIOR TO REHERSAL.
We are looking forward to this fun event!

Notes From the Office
In the event medication needs to be kept in the office for your child, it is extremely important parents hand deliver medications to the front office and complete a medical form. For safety reasons, medication may NOT be sent in with a child.
Please return all overdue library books. There is a drop basket located in the front of each building and FA2 library.
-
We kindly ask that parents refrain from parking across the street during morning and afternoon carpool. Thank you for supporting our safety procedures during this time.
-
Families who are moving and not returning to FA for the 2015-16 school year, should contact Mrs. Williams in the front office for information on paperwork that will need to be completed. williamss@franklinacademy.org
- There will be a Wednesday after school Lego Club held for the second half of 4th quarter.
- NC State is offering an online summer reading program to help children improve reading fluency and comprehension. Please use the link to see their flyer for more information on how to participate.
Please use the following link to view the 2015-16 school calendar when planning events and vacations for next year. http://franklinacademy.org/parents/calendar/
Please help to support learning time by having your child at school on time. School begins at 8:00 and doors open at 7:35. Students who arrive after carpool has ended will be counted tardy, and will need to be signed in by a parent.
-
In order to prevent the spread of illnesses, please keep children home if they are sick. Students must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.
-
Please have FA carpool tags visible during afternoon dismissal. This will help speed up the carpool line and dismiss students more efficiently

Make Up Work: Work for students that are absent may be picked up at the end of the school day (3:15). This gives teachers time to collect work from all classes and send to the office. Please understand that work will not be ready for pick up until this time.
Fourth Quarter AR Goals
Please see below for fourth quarter goals.
We encourage all students to take AR quizzes and work to reach their goal. Parents can really help by checking to make sure the book your child is reading is an AR title. We also ask that you write down the QUIZ NUMBER in your child's agenda. It is much easier for students to type in the number correctly than the title of the book.
If your child's READING teacher is:
Bardes/Jenkins - 4.0 points
Carter - 4.0 points
Crosland - 4.5 points
Lewis - 5.0 points
Steinmiller - 5.5 points
