Hello, Castle View Families:
It was a wonderfully hectic first week of 2023! I'm so proud of how our students showed up to start the new term.
I wanted to share more detail about CTE programming registration as Sabercats continue the registration process for next school year. Douglas County School District offers a variety of Career & Technical Education (CTE) programming. Regional CTE programming is offered to ensure all high school students have access to quality educational programs emphasizing core academic content, Postsecondary & Workforce Readiness (PWR) competencies, technical skills, and seamless transition to further education or employment. CTE programming better prepares all students, including special populations, to meet the challenges of the workforce, economic development, and emerging occupations.
State approved CTE programs are taught by Douglas County School District teachers who have received State CTE credentialing in their respective discipline and program. A list of CTE courses is available in our Course Guide and in THIS DCSD PROGRAM GUIDE.
Students interested in regional CTE programs are required to meet with their high school Counselor to discuss CTE course information, requirements and availability, and to complete the District CTE Application process.
Registration form for programming in Douglas County is DUE FEBRUARY 10, 2023. Instructions and timeline for CTE Program Request form and Registration process can be found here.
As always, thank you for sharing your kids with us. It is our honor to serve them.

Families of Juniors and Seniors
Beginning on January 17, 2023 and continuing through February 16, 2023, students taking the SAT School Day in April 2023 may opt into the optional essay.
Students must log into their CollegeBoard accounts to opt into the essay. The CollegeBoard defaults students to the SAT without Essay. Castle View High School administration cannot opt students in directly. The optional essay is only available for the SAT. There is not an optional essay on the PSAT 9 or the PSAT 10.
If you or your student has questions about the benefits of the optional essay, please have your student make an appointment with Ms. Malson or their counselor.

Also, consider helping us STOCK THE TEACHER FRIDGES on January 23rd! Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. You can drop off your items to Post Grad (in the back of the main office) anytime on January 23rd. Thank you for helping us provide snacks to our wonderful staff as they kick off the year 2023!

Perseverance Scholarship Application
Please submit this completed application by Friday, February 17, 2023 at 3pm.
Scholarship recipients and their parents will be invited to attend a District Administrator's meeting in May for an awards presentation where high school principals will present the awards. We encourage the student's family, counselor, and a favorite teacher (from any grade) to also attend. Please refer questions to your high school counselor.
Criteria For Selection:
Scholastic Record - Include your GPA and any test score available.
School/Community work experience should be included in the space provided.
Applicant's responses to short essay questions.
Financial Need - The need for financial assistance is a major factor of consideration. A parent/guardian must sign in the space designated. Your application will not be considered if information for this section is missing or incomplete.

Volunteer Opportunity!
We are in search of several adult volunteers to proctor Advanced Placement exams in early May 2023. Volunteer proctors will allow our teachers and special service providers to stay in classrooms helping students learn rather than proctoring half-day exams.
Commitment: One 90-minute training in mid-April 2023 and one four-hour morning or afternoon session May 1-5 or 8-12 2023. All training will be provided.
Please fill out this interest survey if you would consider helping us out.
