Week 10, Term 3

Deputy Principal's Message

Kia hiwa ra! kia hiwa ra!

Kua tae mai ki te mutunga o te wā.

The end of term 3 has arrived and what a busy term it has been. Last week saw Kauri and Koromiko class go to camp at Whakamaru and we also had some students involved in the year 3 and 4 Rural Hockey Tournament along with WFPSA Speech Finals at Ohaupo and Cross Country in Te Aroha. Congratulations to Isabella Bond who came runner up in the Year 7 division final for her speech on Women’s Rights. It is great to see the Hautapu children achieving throughout the community to such high standards. Go Hautapu! Next term we will acknowledge our School and Inter School cross country place getters as well as Gymsports at a special sports certificate assembly. Whaanau will be informed once we confirm the date and time. All of our students have made great progress with their learning and have been working hard to display the Hautapu values of Challenge, Courage, Explore, Community and Growth. It was great to welcome everyone to our Celebration Assembly at the end of the term, finally we got a chance to fill the hall and share in the students’ successes this term.

Well done everyone and I’m sure you’ll all enjoy a holiday and break from school before coming back to see out the year in term 4. Thank you to our whaanau for the continual support you give our school whether it be helping with reading or spelling at home, returning readers, assisting with trips and camps, sports teams and other school events. We really do appreciate the partnership. A big thank you to the teachers and support staff at Hautapu School. I know you have had a lot to contend with during this term and the quality of learning and support of our students has continued without issue. Remember to take the opportunity to rest and recharge during this non contact period from the students.

We have a busy start to next term with our Annual Agricultural Day happening on Friday 21st October. Please keep an eye out for notifications on School Apps and any e-mails regarding organisation of the activities on this day. It will be great to see our community together again for Ag Day after missing out last year. In week 4 we have our school production “Cinderfella Goes to the Field Days” being staged here at school in the hall. We look forward to seeing all of our students perform in this exciting production.

In the meantime though, take care everyone, have a safe holiday and we’ll see you back for the start of Term 4 beginning on Monday 17th October.

Cambridge Yacht Club Learn to Sail and Youth Sailing Program

  • Registrations are now open for the Cambridge Yacht Club Learn to Sail program.
  • Open to children aged 9 through 12
  • Boats and safety equipment is provided by the yacht club.
  • Sessions run during Terms 4 & 1 on Tuesdays from 5:30pm till 8:00pm

As an extension of the junior Learn to Sail program the Cambridge Youth Sailing Program invites Year 7 through 13 students who are interested in learning how to sail and developing their sailing skills, to an information evening hosted by Cambridge Yacht Club. This program has the aim of making sailing more accessible and fun in a supportive team learning environment. Students will learn from experienced sailors in the program sailing in a fleet of eight purpose built two-handed race training yachts, which focus on teamwork and learning from each other. All aspects of dinghy sailing are taught, including sailing knots, parts of a boat, maritime safety, and dinghy racing. No sailing experience is required, with a willingness to learn new skills and to work hard the only requirements. The program will also include the development of race squads for interschool Team Sailing competitions.

Youth sailing program runs on Sundays and Thursdays during Terms 4 & 1.
