* To Our Seniors *

Dear Seniors,

Next week you will officially spread your wings and fly from the Cardinal nest that you've called home for the past four years. Always remember that you have a forever family here at LHS. As we send you off on the next leg of your journey, we want you to do great things, be great people, and make your great big mark on this great big earth! While you are out there changing the world, we want you to remember a few things:

"Do what makes you happy, and spend time with those who make you smile. Life is short, so cherish every moment. Always follow your heart. Have no regrets. Some opportunities only come once, so seize them. Embrace kindness, stand up for justice, ask for help, offer hope, mind your manners, and live well. Try not to care what other people think of you, and don't compare the fortunes of others with yours. Always give 100% in everything you do, and love with all you have. Treat others - and yourself - with respect, always. Stop over analyzing. Surround yourself with things that bring you joy. Take responsibility for your actions and own up to your mistakes, but don't dwell on your mistakes (yours or those of others). Smile at people, laugh a lot, forgive quickly, embrace change, travel often, try new things, and face your fears. Don't be afraid to fail. Decide what you want and GO FOR IT. Never turn down an opportunity to learn. Discover yourself. Life is an adventure...so enjoy the ride!"

Maura's Mission

Senior Maura Canavan traveled to Ho, Ghana for a medical mission from April 24th - May 5th. As a student educator, Maura presented five health care modules on dental hygiene, hand washing, hands-only CPR, burn care and prevention, and nutrition. The student educators presented these modules at the Ho Teaching Hospital to general patients and at the Operation Smile patient shelter. In total, student educators presented 53 modules to over 200 people. Maura also had the opportunity to observe an hour-long bilateral cleft lip surgery. Maura’s favorite memory from the mission was learning about the patients and their story by talking to them while they were waiting to meet with doctors. Check out Maura's video below for an up-close and personal look at her trip!
