Welcome Back to NBHS!!!

Leading Lifelong Learners

Principal Letter

Welcome back to an exciting 2018-2019 school year at New Bloomfield High School. The staff is thrilled that you have entrusted your student’s education to us. We will make every effort to help your child achieve academically and socially this year. It is our goal to create an enriched learning environment that engages each student. New Bloomfield High School has an excellent teaching staff with a wealth of knowledge. We also have outstanding support staff who work in different capacities to support your student’s learning.

As you know August is always a very busy month for students and faculty at New Bloomfield High School. It is a very important month, and I cannot emphasize enough the need for our students to start their year out focused on doing their very best. Sports and other activities are well underway. The lives of our students will become increasingly busy. With this in mind please take the time to point out the importance of attendance, grades, good behavior, and staying well rested. The more they are here and alert the greater chances for success they will have. I would like to take the time to share a few thoughts/tips that you can use to help your student this school year.

Ways to Help Your Child:

1) Share a positive attitude-Encourage a love of learning.

2) Setup a place to study-a place that is quiet and free from distractions.

3) Help your child organize-being neat is a positive thing.

4) Encourage-listening, compromising, respecting, cooperation, and apologizing skills.

5) Discourage bullying-encourage them to share out with adults.

6) Peer Pressure-talk about the harmful effects of it and how it’s okay to be different.

7) Encourage your student to get involved.

8) Stay connected with your child: Monitor their homework and speak with teachers if necessary.

9) Hold your student accountable for both positive and negative behaviors.

10) Get involved with the school.

One way to get involved is to volunteer your time to help tutor students, chaperone field trips, make copies for our teachers, or work in any of our after school activities. If you would like to help out in these areas, please let us know via email or phone.

Finally, if your child needs additional support or if you have a concern, please do not hesitate to contact his/her teachers or administrative office. It is our mission to support your child in whatever way we can at NBHS. We believe in community not only within the walls of our building but across our community as well. Working together makes a difference in the lives of our students.

NBHS would like to invite high school students and parent/guardians to a parent night to learn about the new "Suspicionless Drug Testing Program” for students that are involved in a district-sponsored organization or club activities, MSHSAA recognized sports/extracurricular activities, and that park on school property. The parent night will be held on August 14, 2018 at 6:30-7:30 p.m. On this night parent/guardians will learn how the program works, what the process will look like, and other important information pertaining to the program. We are excited for this new program and we look forward to the support that you provide as we strive to keep NBHS a drug free environment and provide a healthy and safe school for students to learn and participate in.
