June Board Meeting Update
The board held their first meeting June 10th at the offices of Higginbotham. Here are a few highlights of what to expect for the upcoming year: School Supply Drive benefitting Wooten Elementary School – Jean Patterson, Project Lead; Capital Area Food Bank Drive; Any Baby Can Adopt a Family – Shelia Moore, Project Lead; Alzheimer’s Walk – Tiffany Way, Project Lead; Membership Campaign by reaching out to retailers by sending letters and brochures to agency principles; Celebration of Boss’s Day by sending thank you notes to employers; Social Media Outreach; Happy Hour for new member recruitment. If you would like to lead any of these projects, please let me know!
Where are the Monthly Raffles?
Instead of doing monthly raffles, we have decided to do them quarterly. The Summer raffle will be in August and will benefit Wooten Elementary School. The other quarters are as follows: Autumn in October benefitting Alzheimer's Walk, Winder in February benefitting Dress for Success, and Spring in April benefitting Austin Children's Shelter. If you are interested in donating a raffle item, please feel free to contact Lauren Kearbey.
Monthly Meetings
We had our first regular monthly meeting June 18th. Jan Kearbey presented on AAIP, Our Past, Our Future, Our Heritage. Kimmi Cantwell also discussed some of the new ideas for the upcoming year, as well as committees for people to volunteer. A special thanks to Specialty Insurance Managers for providing the door prizes. Our next scheduled monthly meeting will be July 16th. We look forward to seeing you there!
The 2013 - 2014 Year.....
I look forward to you joining me as we strive to leave a legacy where we are not afraid to make changes in order to have an even stronger association next year and every year after. The strength of our association is definitely in the many talents of our membership, and I encourage you to be involved. I thank you again for allowing me the opportunity to serve as President of AAIP and here’s to a great year!!
