Pine Road Grows Great Kids

- A MESSAGE FROM MR. COLE-
Dear Pine Road Families,
Time flies at Pine Road and believe it or not, we have almost finished our first marking period of the 2020-2021 school year. Please note that the end of the 1st quarter is Wednesday, November 4th, and grades will be made available on Home Access Center on Thursday November 12th. As a reminder, you can stay up-to-date on your child’s progress by visiting E-School Home Access.
As the first quarter comes to an end, I wanted to thank you for ensuring that your child is present and prepared for both virtual and in-school learning. Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. This relationship between attendance and achievement may appear early in a child's school career. Thank you for assisting our staff with ensuring students are attending daily and completing their assignments.
Additionally, as we continue with our virtual/hybrid model at Pine Road, please keep in mind that Wednesdays are considered a full day of learning for students. While they are more asynchronous, teachers also utilize a blend of instructional delivery models. Attendance will be taken during the mandatory morning class meeting. At these meetings, teachers will outline the expectations of synchronous and asynchronous learning for the day. For the remainder of the day, students will be provided with asynchronous/semi-synchronous work on individual or long term assignments, as well as intervention and enrichment with small groups of students. Work that is completed will count towards their grade in each specific subject area, and failure to complete assignments for the day may result in the child being marked absent.
Finally, I wanted to take a moment to introduce our administrative intern for the 2020-2021 school year. Ms. Nicole Kyvernitis has been with the district for over twelve years, beginning her Lower Moreland career at Murray Avenue where she began the life skills class. She then joined the Pine Road family to begin the life skills program in order to to expand our special education programs. Ms. Kyvernitis then moved to kindergarten and first grade where she worked as the special education teacher and assume the role as one of the lead special education teachers in our building. Four years ago she moved to fourth grade where she continues to provide support to students with special needs in an inclusive environment. Ms. Kyvernitis is currently in her last semester at Gwynedd Mercy University where she is finishing her second Masters in Educational Leadership. You may see or hear from her as she works alongside me to assist with the daily administrative roles and responsibilities of a principal.
Sincerely,
Scott Cole
Principal
