Our Mission
Anacostia High School prepares students to dismantle systems of inequity through nurturing, challenging, relevant, and joyful learning experiences. Our aim is to empower students to be self-aware, critical thinkers that are stewards of the community that positively influence the world.
Hello Ana Family
Hello Ana Family,
I hope this message finds you safe and healthy as we head into the cooler months. The season is changing, we've gained an hour of sleep and we are in the midst of one of the most important elections of our time. We hope that you are voting and talking to your children about the importance of voting.
It was great to speak with many of you at our October Community Meeting. I hope to see more of you at the next community meeting. Please be sure we have your most up-to-date contact information so that you get access to all school-wide information.
As a reminder, if your child is having trouble with your technology, course schedules, learning programs, or need mental health support, please contact us immediately at anacostiahigh@k12.dc.gov.
Also, follow us online (see below) for updates on all the great things happening at Anacostia!
I am looking forward to a great year!
William Haith, Principal

Anacostia Redesign Updates (#AnaXdesign)
Our Redesign Big Bets are in full swing! We are three months into our Project-based learning, NAF Career Academies, and the Dream Team programs.
The video above is a great example of project-based learning in action. Students in the 10th- grade studied moments in history when silence fed oppression and when using your voice led to freedom and unity!
In addition, our civil engineering and public leadership career academies held career exposure events in urban agriculture and forensic science. Please be sure your child completes their career assessment and ask them about the virtual classroom field trips! If you have questions, please email Mrs. Adamson at nakia.adamson@k12.dc.gov.
Dream team captains are working hard to administer the dream team Gallups Strength Finder assessment to every 9th-grade student. Ask your child about his/her strengths! If they haven't taken their strengths assessment, please reach out to their dream team captain!
