What's Happening this Month

Inclusive Schools Week, Mon - Fri 12/2 -12/6

The week of December 2-6 is Inclusive Schools Week. Banyan encourages all staff and students to celebrate differences and recognize all children belong and are valued as contributing members of the school community. Banyan will celebrate this week with a special art project. Also, in honor of Inclusive Schools Week, the the District created a form so that employees and parents may nominate a teacher, staff member or administrator to be a CVUSD Inclusion Hero. The deadline for submission is Wednesday, December 4.

3rd Grade GATE Testing, Wed. 12/4

On Wednesday, December 4 we will have GATE screening for 3rd grade students with signed consent forms as well as testing for referred students in 4th grade.

Elks Lodge Dictionary Project Presentation, Wed. 12/4

On Wednesday, December 4th the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge will gift dictionaries to all Banyan 3rd graders as part of their nationwide program to assist all students in completing the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers by providing students with their own personal dictionary.

Report Cards Go Home on Fri. 12/6

Trimester 1 report cards go home with all students on Friday, December 6th.

PTA Kids (and Parents) Night Out, Sat 12/7

On Saturday night, December 7 Victory Gymnastics at 2330 Teller Road is sponsoring a drop off Kids Night Out from 5:30 - 8:30 pm for children ages 4 and up. Pizza will be provided and the cost is $20 per child ($15 for siblings after that). Please see form below to sign up. All proceeds will go to the Banyan PTA.

PTA General Assembly Meeting, Wed. 12/11

PTA will have a General Assembly Meeting on Wednesday evening, December 11 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the MPR. Childcare will be provided.

ROAR Spirit T-Shirt Ceremonies, Thurs. 12/12 & Fri. 12/13

Once every trimester, Mrs. Kennedy will be holding a special ROAR Spirit T-shirt ceremony for students who earn all four ROAR bracelets during the trimester. Parents will be notified by teachers if their student is to be a ROAR spirit T-shirt recipient. This trimester, there will be two ceremonies in December; Thursday, December 12 for students whose last names begin with letters A-M, and Friday, December 13 for students whose last names start with N-Z . Ceremonies are before school and begin at 7:45 am.

Winter Chorus Concert, Tues. 12/17

Our after school chorus program will be performing for parents/family/special guests on Tuesday night, December 17 at 6:30 pm.

First Grade Winter Performance and International Feast, Wed. 12/18

Our first graders will be having a winter performance and feast on Wednesday, December 18 starting at at 10:15 am in the MPR.

School Site Council, Wed. 12/18

Our SSC is meeting at 2:45 pm in the library on Wednesday, December 18.

4th Grade In-house "Blue Dolphin Days" Field Trip, Thurs. 12/19

On Thursday, December 19 our 4th graders will be attending "Blue Dolphin Days" in the MPR.

Kindergarten Holiday Performance, Fri. 12/20

Banyan Kindergarten classes will be having their Holiday Performance on Friday, Dec 20 at 8:45 am in the MPR.

Winter Break, Monday 12/23 - Fri. 1/3

School is closed for winter break from Monday, December 23 until Friday, January 3. School starts again on Monday, January 6, 2020. Have a wonderful, safe and happy new year!

Friday, 1/31 Banyan Talent Show 6:00 in the NPHS Performing Arts Center
