Santiago Charter Newsletter

Hello Santiago Families!

School starts NEXT WEEK, and we cannot wait to see you!! Please read below for details about starting off the 2022-2023 school year.

School starts at 8:00 AM each day! We recommend an early drop-off in the beginning due to the fact that traffic is traditionally tough the first few days of school. Similarly, pick up can take longer than expected as people adjust to the traffic patterns at Santiago. WE DO RECOMMEND DROPPING OFF/MEETING YOUR STUDENT ALONG RANCHO SANTIAGO BLVD. to avoid the congestion in our lots! We also thank you in advance for your patience as our community gets used to the drop off and pick up routines this year!

School for 7th graders (Discover Santiago) begins on August 16th at 8:00 AM. Dismissal is 12:45 PM, and students should be in full uniform on this day!

School for 8th graders begins on August 17th at 8:00 AM. Dismissal is 2:25 PM. Both 7th and 8th graders attend this day, and all students should be in full uniform!

You can expect to receive this newsletter every week on Fridays, as well as a recorded phone call home each Sunday that will contain important reminders for the week. Please watch for these communications so you feel informed!

Back to School Night is Thursday, September 1st. More information will come home soon, but please plan to attend this night so that you can receive important information and meet teachers.

If you have been having troubles finding our calendar, here it is, and here is our bell schedule!

:) Team Santiago

What About School Supplies?

Parents often wonder about how to handle supply purchases for middle school! Students will always need a binder (2 inches) with dividers for each class period, along with notebook paper. Pencils and blue/black pens are essential as well.

Specific supplies (like spiral notebooks, colored pencils, glue sticks, etc...) will be shared by the teachers on the first few days of school. Ask your students for the syllabus from each class because teachers share their supplies lists there!

Student Wellness Center coming in Fall 2022! Donations needed!

Our BRAND NEW Student Wellness Center is underway! As student mental health needs rise, there is a greater demand for schools to support the WHOLE child. Santiago will be creating a spa-like space for students to come and de-stress, receive counseling support, or just hang out in a safe space during breaks. Daily mindfulness activities, group counseling, and expanded academic, behavior, and social-emotional supports will be provided in this space, before, during, and after school.

If you would like to donate items to our Student Wellness Center, please use THIS LINK to view our Amazon Wishlist. All donations are tax-deductible! Our Tax ID Number is 20-3182558.

For more information, please contact Ms. Patel or Mrs. Vicencia.

College Pennants Needed!

Do you have any college pennants that you'd like to donate to our AVID classroom? We are looking for any/all college universities to be represented! If you do, please send them to our office care of Mrs. Greene. As always, thanks for supporting our school!
