FMS Staff News
November 4th, 2018
Dear Team,
- We will meet quickly with the 6th grade to go over behavior expectations to start the day Monday (in the gym).
- Students that were not here Friday, please be sure they get their conference sheet done Monday.
- Supervision-please be sure your students are supervised at all times. Remind them not to go into a classroom/locker room/etc. without you being there.
Sub Plans
- Please be sure that you have a sub plan folder that has all of the required information in it easy to locate when you are gone. (seating charts, IEP/504 info, behavioral info, etc.) Lesson plans should be detailed enough for anyone to follow. Our subs are not usually versed in your curriculum, so PLEASE be detailed. Be very picky on what you choose to leave for the sub to do. For example, final tests are not great options for a sub. Neither is just watching a movie. We want our subs to come back, so please help make sure they are prepared as best as they can be. Also--touch base with Lucy Shrout if you want some help making videos for your sub/class when you are gone.
Buzzing the Office
- Please only buzz the office from now on for referrals, students on plans that need additional support, or if you need help with de-escalating. Since it is November, you should have a pretty good handle on management and individual student needs. Here are some ideas for students with minor behaviors if you haven't already done (call home, talk to the student, make a plan, look at the resources that have been shared and pick a new strategy, talk to your colleagues, talk to an admin or counselor, consider classroom environment and how it may play into the behaviors) If behaviors are occurring and nothing is changing, the behaviors will continue.Thank you for your help!
As always, if you have questions, please don't hesitate to come check in with us. We appreciate all you do and look forward to another great week!
Sincerely,
Beth and Erica

Off the HOOK!
We have a Triple Threat dose of positivity for this Monday.
1. High 5 Highway for those that would like to come on down to greet our students.
2. A special gift of awesomeness to each of you from us.
3. Off the HOOK classroom challenge
Monday Positivity Challenge-OFF THE HOOK
Add one additional #tlap HOOK to your lesson if you are in the classroom. If you aren't in the classroom, how might you add a hook to your area of the school.
For a list of hooks, check out:

https://daveburgess.com/100-ways-to-add-pirate-hooks-to-your-classes/
I've also linked a PDF of all of the hooks with a short explanation. Take a pic and tweet it out, tagging Erica and me if you can, and add #CelebrateMonday. If you are still new to the tweeting, as for some help or email me the pic and I'll get it out.
THANK YOU for adding a little extra to our Monday to let our kids know how excited we are to see them!
