Physicals for 2020
The district physical dates have been canceled due to closures.
However, It is still required for all members to have an updated physical in order to participate for the 2020-2021 school year.
We will have to go "old school" and families will need to schedule an appointment with their physician or urgent care facility to complete their physical.
Carenow and many other urgent care facilities have lowered prices for band/athletic scholarships.
CLICK HERE for a Printable Blank MISD physical form that you can have your Doctor/facility fill out.
Once completed, please file these physicals in a safe place!
We will turn them in electronically (PDF form preferred) through our registration process. More instructions for registration will be out soon.
**No student will be able to participate in outside activities until we have this form on file.

Spring Trip: Claim update/ 25% refund info (Same as last week)
25% REFUND INFORMATION:
Please click on the following link to read the Treasurer letter sent out yesterday regarding our refund process:
***WE NEED ALL FAMILIES TO DOUBLE CHECK THAT THEIR ADDRESS INFORMATION IS CORRECT ON THEIR TOOLKIT ACCOUNT BY END OF THE DAY SATURDAY, APRIL 5TH SO THAT WE CAN BEGIN SENDING CHECKS OUT NEXT WEEK. IF IT IS CORRECT/INCORRECT YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEND NOTES TO THE TREASURER/MR. TREADWELL, YOU CAN JUST UPDATE IT THROUGH THE SITE.
For more clarity, at the time of cancellation, we were under contract for 75% total due to Director's Choice. We felt that it would be best for our families to keep that last 25% in our booster account and refund it ourselves since the refund process through DC and insurance company could take many months. This was confirmed for us as many of our families are now in a dire financial situation and we can now get this money in their hands faster.
In the simplest terms, 25% refund will come from the booster club and the other 75% will come from insurance.
If you DID NOT file for insurance, you may get more $$$ back through directors choice, but they are currently negotiating with their vendors and this process will take many months.
If you DID file for insurance, we are accumulating resources and information and waiting for directives from both DC and the insurance company on how/when to proceed. (Keep reading below for more info)
INSURANCE CLAIM UPDATE:
Even though it is thoroughly testing all our patience, PLEASE CONTINUE HOLDING OFF FILING YOUR CLAIMS WITH THE INSURANCE.
We are waiting for conformation that all of our families between the 3 high school bands are in the correct groups. The insurance agency is slow to respond due to the overwhelming # of issues going on throughout the country. Rest assured that we are calling/communicating with them at least every other day for updates and will not let this go.
Good news! The insurance company is searching for ways to make it easier for families to file claims (by deducting the information/paperwork dump they currently are asking for). More information will come as soon as we hear from them...
Information that I currently have access to for claim purposes:
Official Cancellation date: 3/24/20
Original Deposit date: 6/10/2019

I hope that it is clear we are being as transparent in this process as we can and are all working to find solutions for everyone.
***Understand that this is a point of high stress for every director/travel agency in the country at this point. I do not have all the answers but you can rest assured that taking care of our families is the highest point of focus right now and doing right by you is my highest priority. I am doing EVERYTHING in my power to protect you and find solutions. If you reach out to me with trip questions, I will respond as quickly as I can within 24-48hrs. I appreciate all your grace and patience.
Need some stress relief.....
Due to Covid19 closures, the following professional groups are giving free concerts through streaming for the foreseeable future.
I particularly enjoyed the metropolitan opera who is streaming a musical/opera a day!

Important information for Private lesson students/teachers
We are HIGHLY ENCOURAGING families who take private lessons to communicate with their teachers and work to the best of their ability to continue lessons remotely through Skype, Facetime or work out home lessons.
If you feel that you do not want to risk it, then we suggest "donating" your normal lesson fee's and working with your teacher to reschedule as necessary.
***This suggestion is for your discretion***:
We want to make sure that you are aware that teaching privately in some cases is the only source of income for many of our teachers. Any week/day that school is cancelled directly impacts their livelihood. Our teachers also have mortgages, rent, bills and groceries to take care of. Please keep this in mind when making your decisions.
Looking Ahead
Electronic Band Registration information coming soon
- Information will include how we will turn in/assign instruments for next year.
