Registered Environmental Health Specialist
What is a REHS?
A registered environmental health specialist or health inspector is a person that works to improve the quality of life and health through environmental education, consultation, and enforcement. Many work for government agencies, but others are privately employed.
When you say the term health inspector most people right away think about a "cop-like" person that checks restaurants to make sure they are clean. Well, that's true but there's a whole lot more to being an inspector than just checking restaurants. In addition, they inspect pools, mobile food carts, camps, hospitals, nursing homes, nail salons, noise and odor complaints, and more.
