The Curtis Connection
September 25, 2020
MR. MELA'S MESSAGE
We are thrilled with the progress being made as we complete our second week of school.
Kudos to the students who are doing a great job following all of our new procedures and who are coming to school with enthusiasm and positivity. Thank you to the staff who continue to work very hard to meet all the needs of our students while utilizing the different instructional practices required for hybrid learning.
On Wednesday, we implemented our first Fully Remote day with the students and by all accounts it went well. We plan to closely watch the number of screen-time minutes for students to make sure they are appropriate for students and staff.
Our message to families continues to be to reach out to us with your questions, thoughts, and concerns so we can work together in supporting the students.
In recognition of Yom Kippur, this weekend has been designated as a "No Homework" weekend.
Enjoy the long weekend.
Jeff

Your commitment to supporting the health of our students and staff is paramount.
PROCEDURE FOR STUDENT DISMISSALS DURING THE DAY
If a student has an appointment during a hybrid remote day or Sudbury Remote, please leave a detailed message on the absentee and tardy line (978-443-1071, press 1) with their departure time, approximate time that the student will be returning to remote learning, as well as the reason for dismissal.
For students who are "in-house" who have appointments during the day, please continue to have them bring a note to the front office first thing in the morning. The note should include time of departure and reason. Parents must come into the front office to sign the student out. The student can sign themselves back in when they return.

Dismissal Criteria for Illness
The MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has updated their guidelines for dismissal from school. Please refer to the chart below for clarification.
If your child has any symptom from Group A they will be dismissed home and asked to quarantine while awaiting results of testing. If no testing is done, they must self-isolate for 10 days. If your child has 2 or more symptoms from Group B the same procedure applies.
