The 6th Annual Ofrenda Project
2021 Sponsored by Falcon Dual Language & Lively Library
Falcon Dual Language Academy is sponsoring the Ofrenda Project - A celebration of our heritage through art, history and writing.
We are pairing up with the Lively Library, Dual Language and the Lively ELAR Department to offer an exciting competition for students this year. The Ofrenda Project entry opportunities have expanded to include original artwork, poetry, photography, videos, recipes and virtual Day of the Dead altars, as well as the traditional essays about our loved ones and the significance of the holiday.
The Lively ELAR Department publishes an online literay magazine called, Limitless, and the fall issue will have a section dedicated to the winning Ofrenda Project entries. There will be a competition to design the cover art for the fall issue magazine with the theme of honoring our loved ones who have passed in the Dia de Los Muertos tradition.
Students who get their work published in our digital magazine will receive three printed copies of the magazine to keep and share with their friends and loved ones.
A slide show of all entries in the contest will be available on our Community Blend course in November. The Literary Magazine, Limitless, Day of the Dead Issue, will be published for the Lively Community in digital format on November 4, 2021. Student winners will receive the printed copies of the magazine prior to winter break.

Lively MS Celebrates Dia de los Muertos with Virtual Altars
The Virtual Altar Opportunity Returns for 2021
Last year, since we were not able to be together to build our altar, and we are blessed to have our Lively Librarian, Yvonne Steckel, who provided a way for students and families to participate in this annual tradition at Lively. Since the virtual altar was such a success, we are incorporating the opportunity to create a virtual altar again this year. All students are welcome to participate in the activity and Ms. Steckel plans to share your creations on the Lively Library Blend page, if you want to share.
Students may also submit their virtual altars to the Limitless Literary Magazine: Day of the Dead Issue for consideration for publication.
Your altar may be too personal to share- so, please do not feel obligated to do so.
We look forward to seeing your creations this year.
