Lost and Found
All unclaimed items in the lost and found will be donated to the PPS Clothes Closet at Marshall High School end of day on May 31st.
IB Corner
This past staff meeting the staff looked deeper into our work as an IB school by looking at our IB Planners! It was very rewarding to listen to the conversations between teachers regarding our current work, work to come and the direction that we are moving with our program. Yesterday I spent the day with a few other teachers as we focused our attention on our schools PBIS work and in the conversations with the other teachers who were there, we were also able to bring in elements of our IB work. I am very excited to continue to bring the two together and support our students as lifelong learners here at Skyline.
Testing
This upcoming week of testing, our 8th grade students will be taking their Science test. They will be testing during their Science class and the middle school will NOT be on a testing schedule. All students 3-8 are finished with their ELA and Math assessments!!
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

Skyline Foundation
At Back to School night the Foundation and the PTA stated a fund-raising goal for the year of $135,000 dollars. It was an ambitious goal, it was an audacious goal, and while many of you fell out of your seats when we unveiled the number, we knew that working together as a school, we could do it.
Well, Skyline, give yourselves a pat on the back! As of March 31, 2019 the Foundation and the PTA (meaning ALL of YOU) have succeeded in raising a gross total of $150,000!!!!!!
We sincerely thank you for writing cheques at the beginning of the year, coming to all the PTA fundraisers, coming to the auction, pledging recurring donations, getting matches for those donations, shopping at Fred Meyer and through Amazon Smile, and submitting your volunteer hours for our school. Every dollar counted. Every dollar helped.
Skyline, you are AWESOME! You never cease to amaze and you never let our kids down.
Take a moment when you are at the school and check out the Feed the Eagle sign. It is a wonderful sight to see that we reached and surpassed our fundraising goal!
Our next step will be to reconcile expenses from the auction and Skyline’s contribution to the PPS Equity Fund to determine the net proceeds that we will use for teachers and enrichment for our kids.
Until then, know that YOUR contribution helped to reach our goal and more!
Sincerely,
Your friendly neighborhood Foundation and PTA

Skyline Ridge Neighbors
Attached is a brochure with our latest update on this summer's NW Cornelius Pass Road construction. We are mailing this information to a wide area to get the word out about the project and upcoming public meetings. Here are some highlights:
- Schedule: We expect our contractor Wildish Standard Paving will close the road to through traffic in early July and reopen it by Sept. 21. The closure is now expected to last about 11 weeks, down from the 13 weeks we were predicting earlier this year.
- Public meetings: Before construction, we will hold a public meeting in each of the three counties impacted by the project, to share information and answer questions. Each meeting is from 6 - 7:30 pm. The meetings are on:
- June 5, Skyline Elementary School Gym, 11536 NW Skyline Blvd.
- June 11, Scappoose High School Auditorium, 33700 SE High School Way, Scappoose
- June 17, Westview High School Cafeteria, 4200 NW 185th Ave., Portland
- Increased Truck Traffic: Cornelius Pass Road users will notice more dump truck traffic on the road starting this week, as Intel begins construction of a new fabrication facility in Hillsboro. The trucks take fill to Columbia County sites and bring in gravel from Columbia County. The trucks will detour to highways after Cornelius Pass Road closes in early July.
Portland Parks & Rec at Forest Park Meeting
At the recent wildfire presentations about creating defensible space presented by Skyline Grange, some folks had questions about what Portland Parks & Rec is doing to limit wildfire risk in Forest Park.
At the June 18 Forest Park Neighborhood meeting, some of the wonderful people from Portland Parks & Recreation staff who take care of Forest Park have been invited to talk about their current projects. They can also answer questions about how they work to limit wildfire risk in the park.
Folks who are interested in more information about this topic are welcome to come to our meeting.
The meeting will be Tuesday June 18 at 7PM. The meeting location is Skyline Memorial Gardens, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd. It is located on Skyline between NW Thompson and NW Springville Roads. Please use GATE 2 – this is the northern gate, which will take you directly down to the parking lot, and the building we meet in is right next to the parking lot. There are markers at this entrance that say “Gate 2”. If you use the other gate there is a long circuitous drive and you are likely to have difficulty finding us.
