End of Trimester 2, Spring Break, the Lunchroom and Spanish language Intern
Greetings Woodcrest Families,
These last few, warm weather days have been refreshing for students and staff here at Woodcrest. The change in weather coincides nicely with the end of the second trimester. As we look to the third trimester, please remember that Spring Break is only six days away. There is no school Friday, March 11-Monday, March 21, and school will resume Tuesday, March 22.
When we return from Spring Break, we will return to serving breakfast and lunch in our lunchroom. I have had the pleasure of partnering with classroom teachers, our colleagues in food service, and spoken with a handful of parents about this change. In addition to providing a wider selection of food for students, this also provides students a new environment for social interaction. I am working on finalizing the details of the updated lunch schedule. Thank you to those of you who have reached out and shared your thoughts about the lunchroom.
Spring trimester also provides an opportunity to look ahead to the 2022-2023 school year. I am hopeful that with the changing COVID-19 situation and evolving health and safety guidelines from the CDC, we will continue a transition toward a more open and inclusionary school day for students, families, and volunteers.
One important aspect of our school I hope we can include next year, is the return of Spanish language interns to the Woodcrest community. If you and your family are interested in hosting an intern in your home during the 2022-2023 school year, please let me know by answering the following questionnaire. There will be more information to come regarding this opportunity.
Before I sign off, just a little reminder. This Sunday, March 6, the Woodcrest PTO will be hosting a family fun event at the Springbrook Nature Center from 1-4 p.m. I hope to see you there.
Con gratitúd,
John Franke

The Week of Giving, February 21-26, was full of panther pride. There were themed spirit wear days, dine to donate opportunities in partnership with local restaurants, a silent auction with more than 350 packages open for bidding and the culminating event of the week - the Panther Party. Watch the special message of thanks below and read the recap.

Thank you to the volunteers who led discussions with all our students about six pieces of art from the Minneapolis Institute of Art in February. This year's theme was People and Their Environments and students met for three weeks to explore art together.
Summer Reading Initiative
Woodcrest PTO is collecting gently used books for our annual Summer Reading Initiative. Just before school is finished, students are able to pick out free books to read over summer break. We will have a drop off box in the lobby, or if you have a large amount we can pick them up from your house too! Thank you to everyone that donated books already.
