Bright Beginnings Buzz

October 2018

Hello families,

Happy Fall! We hope that you and your little ones are settling into the school routine and enjoying the experience. We are looking forward to a lot of fun during October! :) We will have our very own "Pumpkin Patch" for the children to enjoy (thanks to so many of you who have volunteered to help!), complete with a hay maze, pumpkins, and festive games and stories. We end our month with our annual costume parades and parties! :) Thanks to all of you for your time and donations that help make our fall fun successful. Please read on for more October news.

Our theme of the month:

Fruit of the Spirit: Kindness

Encourage your child and engage yourself in activities that manifest positive energies such as donating to charities, helping your friends and neighbors, keeping in touch with loved ones. When your child sees you helping others and extending kindness, he/she will follow suit.

Our bible verse is:"I trust in God and am not afraid" (Psalm 56:4)

Our little ones began meeting for Children's Church in the Sanctuary with Pastor Amy in September and really enjoyed it! :) During the month of October, Pastor Amy will review our bible verse, talk about the difference between reality and fantasy, and teach children to trust in God. We will be singing fun songs including "Awesome God" and also collecting our change for our children in Africa.

Movie Mania

Every other month, beginning in October, we get together for a movie event on a Friday night. I send out an email blast and you can respond to register by emailing me back. Space is limited and the age is limited to age 4 years - through 5th grade (friends and family members are invited! :) ). The cost is $10 per child and dinner (pizza) and activities are provided. This is a great time for you to have a date night and your little ones to get out and have fun with their friends. There will be an email going out with more information, the first movie night will be Friday, October 19th.

Pumpkin Patch

Ida has send out an e-mail regarding our pumpkin patch, but if you have questions please let us know. Below is the sign up genius link to donate supplies. Thank you so much for your generosity! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d45aaa72ea7fc1-pumpkin5. It is a fun week for the children as we have a straw maze, games, face painting, cookies and juice, read the Pumpkin Parable and get to pick out a pumpkin! Some of the pumpkins in years past weigh as much as some of our children! :) All of the festivities happen the week of October 15-19, with each class allotted a special time.

HALLOWEEN PARTIES AND PARADE

We look forward to celebrating Halloween here at Bright Beginnings! :) We utilize this time to teach lessons about fantasy vs. reality and how we trust in God and do not have to be afraid. With that being said, we ask that you stay away from scary costumes for your child. Please, no scary masks and no accessories such as swords, wands, etc. that may become broken or lost or used as weapons :)

Our Halloween parades will take place on:

Tuesday, October 30th for all M/T 3's (AM- 30 students), (PM- 30 students)

Wednesday, October 31st for 4's, 3 day 3's, Stepping Stones and Kindergarten Exploration classes. (AM- 80 students), (PM- 100 students)

During the parade, parents may line the main hall to watch and pass out candy. If you choose to bring candy to pass out (not required) you may bring it for just your class or all of the classes coming through. We ask that any treats you bring to pass out be peanut/ nut free due to severe allergies.

Our Kids Morning Out classes do not participate in the parades, it can be over-whelming for some of them, but they do have little celebrations in class. (More details will come home from teachers)

Pictures

School pictures will be the week of October 8th - 12th. Ida will send out an email with the link and password to view the proofs. Through that link you can order pictures or you can fill out a hard copy order through the office. More details will be with the email next week, including make-up days.

Illness Alerts

We have had many cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth disease and strep throat throughout the school. We pray that everyone stays healthy, but wanted to give you a heads up. We will continue to sanitize our spaces and alert you when we have illnesses to look for. Please let us know if your child is ill so we can pray for them and alert others to possible illnesses going around. Also, a link of our Health and Wellness policy is below. Thanks!

Here are a few of our favorite things...

Already thinking about holiday teacher gifts? We have a binder in the office of each of our teacher's favorites! Just stop in and ask to see our binder!

Preschool Pick up line

You are all doing a great job with the pick up line/ dismissal so far! :) As a lot of you who have been here before know, the pick up line is a quick and easy way to safely get our little ones to their parents. The first few days are usually a little rocky as we all learn the system, but then it's a breeze. Here are a few important things to remember:

- We dismiss from 11:45-12:00 for am preschool students and 3:45-4:00 for pm preschool students. PM Kindergarten Exploration children are released at 4:00 pm. Our Kids Morning Out children are dismissed from their classroom and do not utilize the pick up line. Please do not feel the need to be here right at dismissal time. It takes a few minutes for our classes to get situated and we dismiss those whose parents are waiting inside first and then we go to car line. Coming at 11:50- 11:55 or 3:50-3:55 will help to space it out and avoid long lines. Once our teachers start dismissing the line goes very quickly.

- You have been doing a great job staying in line, moving up, staying in your car, pulling up, not going around cars and etc.- KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! :)

In order to help keep our pick up line running smoothly please remember the following:

- Kids Morning Out dismisses from class- please park in side lot and come in front door

- let others who may be pickingup your child know our procedure

- If you are pickingup your child from inside please park in the side lot (by the Eagles) and walk across the street to enter through the front door. Please do not park in the parking out front if you are walking in to pick up

- Please stay in your car. The teachers will place your child in the car and you can pull up past the alley to help buckle.

- Please do not pull in front of the church until first checking to be sure you are not cutting in front of someone from the parking lot.

- Please do not leave children unattended in cars.

- Please do not park on the side of the church or in front of the church

This month's missions

Food Pantry Goody Bag drive

We will be collecting the following items in the lobby for the SCAC backpack program. Here are some ideas for what they are in need of:

  • Individual size chips bags
  • Granola bars
  • Juice boxes or capri- sun
  • Individual size cheez-it bags
  • Cheese crackers (snack packs or variety packs)
  • Rice Krispy treats (prepackaged)
  • Individually wrapped treats (small oreo packages, etc)
  • Individual sized oatmeal packets

Please drop off the donations off in the boxes in the lobby, we will begin collecting mid-week.

Pampered Chef Classroom kitchen fundraiser

We typically do not do any fundraisers (with the exception of our Spring Sing event in May). But this opportunity would not only benefit our school, but a school in need as well! All of our preschool classes, Kindergarten Exploration, and our A.C.E kiddos will benefit from the classroom kitchen cooking kits (child appropriate) that we will earn from this fundraiser. Pampered Chef will then donate kitchen kit(s) to a school in need. Pampered chef is partnering with nonprofit Big Green to bring cooking education to 150,000 students. Please stay tuned for more information!

That's all for now, I will be in touch soon! :)

God bless,

Kim
