Little Bugs Round-Up
Fowler will offer 2 Little Bugs sessions this school year. The morning session, running from 7:45-11:00 a.m. will be play-based and focus on social-emotional and language development. The afternoon session, running from 11:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. will be academic-based and focus on kindergarten readiness. Parents will be notified of the recommended placement for their child by August 7th. Students who attended Little Bugs last year and have already received a placement recommendation do not need to attend round-up.
In the case that our enrollment numbers exceed our number of slots available, established criteria will be followed to grant acceptance into the program. This criteria will be available at round up.
Parents should call Mr. Chris in the grade school office to schedule an appointment for Little Bugs Round-Up. The parent and child should both attend the appointment.
During the appointment, you will:
* visit the preschool classroom
* meet the teacher, Mrs. Powell, who will help you complete the Ages & Stages Questionnaire
* meet the speech language pathologist, Mrs. Cunningham, who will screen your child's language development
* complete enrollment paperwork
Documents that will be needed to enroll in Little Bugs:
* birth certificate
* social security card
* immunization record
* a school physical conducted by your doctor or health department
Elementary Structure
In order to maximize the instructional talents of our teachers, we are planning to combine 1st & 2nd grade as well as 3rd & 4th grade for this school year. This decision was made to ensure quality instruction for all of our students. Both of these classes will be supported by instructional assistants who are trained in education. This will allow our teachers to continue to provide small group instruction tailored to meet the needs of all students and keep our student to teacher ratio very small.
This decision was made based on the needs of our students and the high quality teachers that we have. This is not a financial decision, and in the future we will move back toward the traditional one teacher per grade level, but this gives us the great opportunity to mentor and develop our instructional assistants under the guidance of our experienced teachers.
