High School Weekly Update

From Co-Principals Ruby Bode & Chuck Scott

April 30, 2021

Dear EPHS Family,

We have worked hard and persevered throughout this year no matter what obstacles got in our way. We only have 4 weeks remaining in the school year. Keep working hard all the way to the finish line!

Thank you to the parents who attended Monday's Board of Education meeting about the high school's commitments to grading. One of our goals in our school improvement plan this year is to provide grades that are an accurate reflection of what the student knows and is able to do. We are always striving to improve at EPHS and do truly appreciate your feedback. It helps us understand, learn, and grow.

Graduation & Prom May 28

Our EPHS Graduation Ceremony will take place on Friday, May 28 at 10:00am in Bobcat Stadium. The ceremony will not be open to the public. Only relatives of the graduates will be in attendance. This includes relatives outside of the household to include grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc. Senior students and their parents have been sent a form to RSVP the number of family members who will be joining us. This will help us know how many to expect for our venue. Since it will not be open to the public, we will be live-streaming it for everyone in our community to watch who is unable to attend.

In addition we will hold a graduation clap-out across all campus schools for our graduates on Thursday, May 27. Plans are also in the making for a graduate parade for our community. We will communicate the parade route once it is determined.

Summer School Opportunities

We are offering summer credit recovery opportunities for students earning failing grades in any of the core content areas: Math, English, Social Studies, and Science.

In order to graduate from EPHS, every student must earn 4 credits in every core content area. A failing grade results in no credit. That means failing a class puts you behind on your track toward graduation. This summer opportunity is a chance to get back on track and graduate on time.

These classes will take place July 12- August 12, Monday -Thursday between 8:00am-12:00pm.

Students who earned a failing grade this year in a core content area will receive an emailed invitation to register for this summer opportunity.

Reminder about Mask Wearing

We want to remind all parents, students, and staff members of the continued expectation to wear your mask properly when at school. This means that the mask must cover your nose and mouth at school at all times, except when eating and drinking.

Last Day of School May 27

Our last day of school is Thursday, May 27. We will be having a regularly scheduled day of instruction on this day. We want to make sure everyone is aware of this, because the academic calendar on our website has this as only a 1/2 day of instruction.
