Family Update
Week of May 31, 2021
Week of May 31st - June 4th, 2021
Good morning,
Here we are! It's the last week of the 2020-2021 school year and what a year it's been! We, as a school community, have shown that when we work together we can make great things happen!
Parents and guardians, you partnered with the school to continue your child's education during the remote periods and/or all year if your child was an e-learner. Our teachers showed tremendous flexibility and grace when asked to teach both remote and in-person students. Teachers provided stability, love, creativity, and guidance in the classroom. They showed that learning can look and be delivered differently, but it is teaching and progress was made! Our staff - our amazing teacher's assistants, special class teachers, and the office staff are simply second to none. Each doing whatever was asked, even if it was new and scary because each of us knows, it's about the children!
This week we do maintain a fairly regular schedule as learning continues all week! Students must be in uniform each day. Wednesday is a Kind Shirt day and our last Kind Kid Party. On Friday, students who are registered for the 21-22 school year, may be out of uniform. As a reminder, there is no after-care on Friday. ALL students will go home at 2 pm.
We are sending home extra math books for practice. We will not be sending any paper packets of work home. Please have your child read every day, work in the math books, and enjoy some non-screen time! The Chicago Public Library has a free summer reading program. Each teacher will suggest other activities, too.
Our Class of 2021 will be graduating Saturday, June 5th on our lawn. This is a ticketed event with a limited audience. Graduation begins at 10 AM sharp!
We will be moving away from Class Dojo and to Bloomz over the summer. You will receive information over the summer on the new system. It will put all of the needed information at your fingertip and a single app.
Please remember that NO COVID protocols have been changed at the school level. Once on our property, each person must wear a mask (vaccinated or not).
Remember that on June 8th, July 13th, and August 10th, we have the Produce Pop-Up - the fruits and vegetables are amazing! We will distribute from 1-3 pm. June 8th is also when all Chromebooks, Chrometablets, and chargers must be returned! July 13th we are planning on having a vaccine bus on site. This is for anyone age 12 and over - one doesn't have to attend St. Benedict! Please spread the word.
The school office is open from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM. During the summer (June 14-July 31) the office hours are 8 AM - 2 PM. The offices will be closed July 5th in observance of July 4th and then July 20-23.
We look forward to the 21-22 school year with renewed hope, joy, and optimism!
Stay safe this summer and reach out if you need anything.

Ice Cream Fun! A Celebration of a Registration Goal! Everyone Enjoyed!
REGISTRATION CONTINUES - Do it now and enjoy your summer!
Registration still remains at the top of the list. As we return to full in-person instruction for the 2021-2022 school year, seats are limited. At this point, no deposit is needed to get your child's seat reserved; we will add it to the contract for later payment The first step will be to complete the registration Google form. Please click the link here. We do have some classrooms which will have a waiting list in the next weeks.
Registered students for the 21-22 school year may dress down on June 4th. As a reminder, there is no extended day on June 4th. All students will go home at 2 pm.
After families complete the Google registration form, the packet with more extensive paperwork will be emailed out. Please return those as soon as possible. Contracts will follow. Thanks for your patience as we get those prepared.
Registration is open to new families, too. Do you know a new family, especially a preschool or kindergarten family? You will receive a $300 referral credit for any new family that registers! We are looking to enroll new preschoolers and kindergarteners for next year! Do you know anyone with 3, 4, or 5-year-olds? You could receive a special referral credit resulting in not having to do any PAWS for the 21-22 school year (carryover PAWS not included)! Let us know.
Sweatshirts Are Still Available
Financial Accounts
While we know that these are very challenging times, the financial health of the school is important to its longevity. We thank all of you for your prompt payments.
As we move into the last week of this school year, student accounts must be paid so that report cards and awards are sent home, students in graduating classes may participate in all activities, and the school stays healthy financially.
We value you and your family!
