Our mystery reader last week was Sajiri's mom! She brought us a little snack to munch on while she read. Such sweet books and such a sweet time! Thank you for coming and sharing your day with us.
We met with our 5th grade Math Buddies for the 1st time. Mrs. Brigance's class taught us the ends and outs of fractions. The kids learned about equivalent fractions and even a little bit about reducing. It was a great success and we look forward to doing it again soon!
We will be taking our math CBA (content based assessment) from LISD this week. I feel the kids will do great and am very confident. It is just a bench mark for the district to see how the kids are doing, how the teachers are doing and if the curriculum is covering what it should. No worries and no grade is given. I'll let you know how they do.
The kids brought home a note from PE. Please be sure you have checked it out and help them to earn the rest of the stars for their Dallas Stars hockey bracelet. Any questions email restucciar@lisd.net.
I am still missing a few permission slips for swimming. Please turn these in ASAP. I have heard back from a few of you about your child's swimming abilities, please let me know about that ASAP. Also, be sure their bathing suits fit!
Don't forget to be filling out those 6 Flags Reading Logs. You don't want to pass up the chance for a free ticket. Feel free to turn them in at any time.
Check out the last 2 pics below. We had an expensive weekend and the 2 oldest McGhee girls got new cars. You have never seen such happy and grateful girls! Too whom much is given, much is expected...
Have a great week!

What We've Been Learning
Language Arts- We went through the writing process and wrote stories about being trapped in a snow globe. They turned out so cute! We also read the story Penguins and Chicks. We dove into doing penguin research in small groups. They are making penguins for the hallway that are to scale. I will post pictures of the fabulous penguins next week.
Science-We spent a little more time looking at ramps and motion. They loved getting to explore my top collection. Spinning tops of all sorts flew across the classroom. We are moving into rocks this week.
Social Studies-We talked about assembly lines, factories and products. The kids could watch videos of "how things are made" all day it seemed. We then moved onto holidays through the year research. They are currently making a time line of all the US holidays from Jan-Dec.
