From Mrs. Price
Buckalew Families,
What a BEAUTIFUL weekend! We have so many things to look forward to in April and May. I have to say that I am so unbelievable PROUD of our students! We have made is so far this year and I am so excited to finish even stronger than when we started.
Right now our BIGGEST Spring Fundraiser is happening with PTO's Silent Auction. Please see the flyer below in the Buzz and check out the PTO's social media. There are some amazing items up for bid. The silent auction lasts until April 16 at 8pm, so make sure to check out anything that may be of interest. We also have our 1st grade After School Play Dates happening THIS Thursday and 2nd Grade After School Play Dates NEXT Thursday. We thank you in advance for your continued support and contributions to our fundraising efforts to help Buckalew get closer to 1:1 technology.
The Buzz contents will be highlighting both end of the year events as well as next year events, so please look through the information carefully. 4th Grade Parents, please save the date for our traditional 4th Grade Clap-Out to take place at 9:45 on May 26, our last day of school. Details will be coming soon.
Just a reminder, there are 2 different links below to review for success on the learning platform you have selected as a family. The remainder of the information in the BUZZ is applicable to our entire Buckalew Community!
For questions or concerns, please make sure to visit CISD's Roadmap to Remain Open, call our front office at 281-465-3400, or email contactbuckalew@conroeisd.net.

GT NOMINATIONS FOR SUMMER TESTING
Nominations are Due Friday, April 30, 2021
The window is now open for parent nominations for GT Screening and will continue through April 30. Parents may nominate their student for Summer GT Testing by completing the District Nomination Form, available through any 2nd, 3rd or 4th grade teacher, or by asking Belinda in the front office. If you would like a form emailed to you, contact Mrs. Smith tonsmith@conroeisd.net. Second grade students who did not participate in the December CogAT administration are the only second grade students who are eligible for summer testing. Parents may now nominate, one time per level of test. In other words, students may test once each school year to see if they meet district requirements and /or qualify in other subject areas. GT testing will be held at Bush Elementary on June 1-3 from 8:00-12:00. Nomination forms may be returned to your student’s 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade teacher OR to Belinda in the front office. You may also email completed nomination forms to Mrs. Smith tonsmith@conroeisd.net. ALL NOMINATION forms are due NO LATER THAN April 30!

Hi Buckalew Bears! I'm Mrs. Points, your school counselor. With each Buzz, I will have resources to support the social and emotional learning of our students. If your family has a specific need you would like to contact me about, please don't hesitate to email me at kpoints@conroeisd.net.

April's Character Trait; Honesty

Counseling Helps Us G-R-O-W!!!
New groups are forming this month and will begin meeting the week of April 19th. Each group meets once a week for five weeks. On-campus learners meet during lunch, and virtual learners meet at various times depending on their class Zoom schedule.
Our topics include dealing with BIG emotions (fear, anger, frustration, sadness), having a growth mindset, coping skills, and character traits such as perseverance, honesty, kindness, and gratitude. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at kpoints@conroeisd.net.
The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, April 14th. If your child is currently in a group, he/she will go on a waiting list to allow other students the first opportunity to join. If spots are available, I would be very happy to fill those spots with current group members on a first come, first serve basis. Thank you so much for your understanding. -Mrs. Points

Here are the positions we will fill for the 2021-2022 school year. Nominations will be accepted through March 15th. Please contact our PTO Parliamentarian, Julie Naughton, juliann.naughton@gmail.com, if you are interested, want more information or would like to nominate yourself. CISD Health and Safety Protocols
Conroe ISD is reviewing the newly released guidance from the Texas Education Agency which supports our current safety practices. District administration will be meeting with local health authorities and advisory groups this week to discuss the District’s health and safety protocols for the remainder of the year. All current safety protocols will remain in effect until further notice. Conroe ISD is committed to providing the safest learning environment for its students and staff and keeping schools open.

- Individual who had direct physical contact with someone who has COVID-19 including touched, hugged, or kissed them, shared eating or drinking utensils, or were sneezed or coughed on by the sick person while they had symptoms or within 2 days of the sick person developing symptoms and/or testing positive.
