Dates and Events to Remember

  • April 22- Fun Fitness and Early Release
  • April 24-SC Picture Book Review Form due
  • April 24-Blowfish Reading Log due


  • Students will add three digit numbers with regrouping in Chapter 6. They will always need to show their work.

  • Students will need to continue to study addition and subtraction facts by heart even if they have passed these quizzes. They can practice on Quizlet to increase fact fluency.

  • All Thursday quizzes will wrap up this month so we can explore whole group multiplication patterns to help students prepare for third grade.

Language Arts

Students will read non-fiction articles about animals and answer comprehension questions. They will reread information as needed to best answer multiple choice questions. They will write in complete sentences when answering short answer questions.

In writing, students will share their "I am" poems in the Author's Chair. Students will begin animal research. Mrs. Matney will share online resources available to our class along with books that we can use.

In Lesson 41, we will practice changing the y to i and then adding es (hobby/hobbies).

In Lesson 42, we will practice changing the y to i when the suffix starts with e (cry/cried).

Spellingcity is a popular site to review these lessons along with previous ones studied this year.


Students will observe life cycle changes of several insects as they go through metamorphosis. Students will learn about different habitats and who lives there.
