🎃OCTOBER 2021🎃

Happy Fall everyone, don’t you just love the cooler weather?! Hard to believe just a few days ago the temperature was in triple digits.

PLEASE NOTE: our traditional Donuts with Dad or with a Special Friend event will be postponed until after Christmas. It was originally on our calendar for October 14.

Butterfly School will be conducting several fund raising events this year to help pay for Outdoor Shade Structures for our Playground. Having shade covering our playground would be beneficial during the hot days in the fall and spring and will protect our children and play equipment from the harmful effects of the sun.

Our first fund raising event will be at Hat Creek Burgers here in Coppell on Monday, OCTOBER 18. Please help support our school by turning in your receipts that evening for your meal. Look for the red bucket that will be located between the two cash registers. If you go through the drive through, be sure to let the drive through attendant know to place your receipt in the red bucket. See information below.

On October 13, your child will bring home an order form for our BUTTER BRAIDS fundraiser. Butter Braids are a delicious quick serve pastry. If you've never experienced the delicious yumminess of a Butter Braid, you are missing out! These frozen, ready to bake treats are great to keep in the freezer for when unexpected company shows up or for when you just need something sweet to go with your morning cup of Joe. This will be the only fundraising event where collecting money(cash) will be necessary.

Our goal is 10 orders per student. We are asking everyone to help by taking orders from friends, neighbors, and families to help us reach our goal. If you know someone who has had them before, you know it won’t be hard to get 10 orders!

More information below.

NO SCHOOL Friday, October 7

Both Thursday and Friday are early release days for Coppell ISD. Typically RBS is closed on an early release day for Coppell.

RBS will have school on Thursday, October7.

THERE will NOT be school on Friday, October 8.

Butterfly School will conduct several Spirit Night Events during this year in order to raise money for our school. Many thanks to a special parent, Jamie Wuistinger for volunteering to schedule these events for Butterfly School. We are working on funding to place sails over our playground to offer some shade! Thank you for your support!

HELP ME GROW North Texas-

Be looking for a booklet coming home with your child in their folder called Milestone Moments! This beneficial little book will help you identify your child’s developmental milestones. It is important to talk to your pediatrician about your child's milestones and what to expect next. If your child misses a milestone, the earlier they get help the better!

Fruit of the Spirit- "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control", Galatians 5:22-23. An observation that the word FRUIT is singular. It seems that the many virtues or attributes all make up into one singular FRUIT. These many pieces play equally into the one fruit.

Our Fruit of the Spirit for September was Gentleness. In Matthew11, Jesus describes himself as gentle and humble in heart. Gentleness is not weakness. Christ’s life was not marked by weakness but by power!

Max Lucado wrote these words, “Nothing is won by force. I choose to be gentle. If I raise my voice may it be only in praise. If I clench my fist, may it be only in prayer. If I make a demand, may it be only to myself.”

In our harsh, abrasive world, be the one who shows gentleness.

The Fruit of the Spirit for October is Self-Control. Self-control is the ability to discipline yourself to achieve a goal. It is so frustrating to KNOW what is right and still not be able to manage to do it! Jesus is the missing piece between knowledge and action.

From the world's perspective, self-control or self-discipline is for self-gain. Self-control from a biblical point of view is focused on the building up of others, and ultimately to bring God the glory. We need Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit to help develop self-control in each of us, for example; regularly reading God's word, praying, and dedicating time for others in service.

We are blessed that our God works wonders in our weakness if we continue to seek him.

--✝-----CHAPEL CHAT------✝-- Ms Chris

So many exciting things are happening this month in Chapel. Fall is in the air and we are noticing our world is bursting with color! Our lessons will focus on God’s creations, including creating us. We will learn that God created the world in 7 days. We will hear the Bible stories about how God made us and how God takes care of us.

October’s Memory Verse is Genesis 1:31 “Everything God made was very good.”

--🎵--MUSICAL MOMENTS--🎵- Ms Deborah

Happy Fall!! What a great start to the school year! This month in music the toddlers and 2s will continue their exploration in music through finger play, beating to the music with shakers, marching to the beat, and scarves will be introduced to aid in movement to music. The 3s classes will be following the themes of their classroom studies through songs. We will use musical terms for dynamics and tempo. They will continue to use tapping, marching, finger plays, and instruments as we learn more about music. Our classical piece for this month is Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Seans. The PreK classes will continue their alphabet tour through music. We will discover F is for Folk Songs, G is for Guitar, H is for Harmony, and I is for Instruments. All of the teachers will have a list of the songs their classes will be singing. I hope that you have a wonderful month. May you have a melody in your heart that brings you joy!

Have a blessed day!

🧪-Sensational Science-🔍 Ms. Tracy

In Science this month we’ll be learning about architecture using marshmallows, liquids and solids while making Halloween Goop, and chemical reactions making Pumpkin-canos erupt!
