Kindness Council Makes Contributions to Dakota Woodlands

At their last meeting, Kindness Council members listened to Miss Beth, a representative from the Dakota Woodlands homeless shelter in Eagan, and decided to gather toiletries to donate. These items will go a long way in making the residents’ stay at Dakota Woodlands more comfortable.

Acts of Character: Integrity

The Shannon Park Acts of Character Program revolves around teaching, promoting and recognizing positive character traits in students. During the month of April, we will be focusing on the character trait of respect.

Show Your School Spirit: Dress Like a Superhero!

Superheroes are all around us! The Kindness Council invites all students and staff to participate in "Dress Like a Superhero" Day on Friday, April 15. Feel free to dress up like a fictional superhero or a superhero in real life! (Examples: Parent, nurse, firefighter, police officer, veterinarian, etc.)

Classroom Basket Fun!

Each classroom has been assigned a theme and will create a basket with the donations received. These baskets will be available to bid on online. Please have your classroom basket donations in by April 29th. If you would like to help with Classroom baskets or the Silent Auction please contact Tracy Plonsky at

Here is how you can donate to your child’s classroom basket:

Donate New Purchased Items (see basket theme list & ideas on attached document or in your child's Friday Folder) to donate to your child’s classroom basket based upon the theme assigned, or feel free to donate to any theme listed. All donations are welcome.

Send in a Cash Donation or Gift Card–This is always helpful as it allows us to fill in with missing items and purchase bigger ticket items that may fit with the theme. Please place in an envelope labeled with your teacher’s name and amount on the outside.

CAHOOTS 2022 Summer Program

CAHOOTS math and language arts in one book … a great value!

Parents, Community Education is pleased to again be offering CAHOOTS, a K-5 summer math and language arts correspondence workbook program. The program is portable, flexible and designed to closely match our district curriculum through an engaging and reflective approach to learning. After completing each lesson and checking answers online, students complete an assignment reflection and send to a CAHOOTS Buddy who will send a written response back.

You will receive a letter which includes enrollment instructions the week of February 28. Cost is $43. Final registration is due April 1. Sample workbook pages can be viewed at It is recommended students work on the grade level they will be entering in the fall (i.e. 1st grade is a review of kindergarten), to review and reinforce skills learned during the school year. Please discuss with your child’s teacher, if you feel another level may be more suitable.CAHOOTS should not be considered a replacement for participating in summer school, if your child qualifies. CAHOOTS is not intended to replace regular reading for enjoyment or math activities that strengthen your child’s fluency and love for math.

Yearbooks will be available to order for $15.00 through April 1, 2022.

Ordering Options:

  • Pay with cash or check (payable to Shannon Park Booster Club) along with the yearbook form brought to school.

Yearbook Delivery Date: late May

There are very FEW extras that will be available for purchase.

Attention Shannon Park Parents!

We have begun planning for our annual Shannon Park Picnic on May 19, and Silent Auction on May 13-19. We need YOUR help making the Silent Auction a success. Please take a second to consider if you, a spouse, grandparent, employer, or even neighbor could donate the following:

  • Items (handmade goods, electronic items, larger giveaway items)
  • Gift Cards (local businesses or your own business)
  • Tickets (Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves, Lynx, Wild, United, Gophers, Theatre, Concert)
  • Experiences (timeshares, hotel stays, ski passes, ride passes, waterpark passes etc.

Don't have any of these items? You can also donate your time for the silent auction. Help is needed with auction set up and collection of auction items. To donate or volunteer contact Jen Goinz at 701-261-8231, or email

Kids Heart Challenge Update!

Shannon Park recently held our Kids Heart Challenge event, and Shannon Park generously collected and donated $11,192.86 to the American Heart Association. This is truly incredible! Because of our donation, Shannon Park will receive $850 for PE equipment and five teachers will each receive a $25 Amazon Gift card. A HUGE thank you to our Shannon Park students, staff, families, and community! We had three students raise over $400. Those students include Emma P. in 3rd grade, Aubrey W. in 5th grade, and DeDe B. in 5th grade. Our highest fundraiser was fifth grader, DeDe B. from Ms. Conroy’s class. She raised $$1,110.41. Way to go DeDe!
