Black History Month Activities This Week

The first day of each week during Black History Month (BHM): Show up and Show out! Wear Black History Month gear or clothing that represents Black American Culture! Watch for activities throughout the month that will celebrate Black History in a variety of ways.


Tuesday, February 28: “Never Use The N-word”

Unfortunately, the n-word is used with a disturbing frequency in the hallways of Fremd High School. The event will consist of a variety of activities students and staff members can engage in to educate themselves and commit to "Never Use the N-Word" at FHS.

Student Services Focus of the Month for March

Each month, Student Services creates and shares different school-wide initiatives to bring awareness to different topics and issues. During the month of March the focus is self-care and contributing to a positive school culture. Student Services will be leading activities with students and staff about how to take responsibility in the school, build community, and support others. Keep an eye out for more information.

Last Days of the Diaper Drive

Please donate diapers to Student Services and the Media Center in a drive hosted by Asian American Heritage Club. Diapers will benefit Second Bridge, an organization that supports foster children. Sizes 3-5 are especially appreciated.

Reminder from Palatine Police Department: Do not use Township Office Lot

The Palatine PD Department reminds FHS students and families that the Township Office lot may not be used for pick up or drop off. Please use the FHS parking lot only.

Friday, March 3: Viking Booster Club Scholarship Applications Due!

Our Viking Booster Club has made its scholarship available on the Booster Club website. Note that the application deadline is March 3, 2023.

March 7: Spread the Word Day

March 7th is the annual Spread the Word Day celebrating inclusion for people of all abilities. Please wear your Spread the Word clothing to show support! If you didn't buy an item with our new logo, Shannon Denna (sdenna@d211.org) has some shirts and sweatshirts still available. Shirts will be sold outside cafe Mar 2 - 7.

Students - If you are looking for even more up-to-the-minute information about Fremd, be sure to turn on notifications for Fremd Events on Schoology (course code: 5838-N2R4-67XSX).

Families - although you are not able to enroll in the course as a family member, you can follow Fremd Events notifications if your child is enrolled and if your notifications are set to alert you of course updates.
